A piece of the ceiling seemed to fall out of nowhere. She got shoved away. Forkle. Yet another time, in which she had been near death, and someone shoved her away from the danger. The piece of ceiling fell onto Brant's skull. A horrible sound commenced when the ceiling hit the ground. Although he was supposed to be the enemy, a small part of Oralie had to feel a little bit bad for him. Being crushed by a ceiling? Not really the best way to die. There was a shift in the air. A sense of victory. But for Gethen, this made him mad. It looked as if a switch had been flicked on inside him, making his face hot and red. But the shift wasn't completely Gethen's fault. There was something else. Something she hadn't felt since his death. Not again. Please, not again.
"Let me save you." The voice said. The same voice she had heard in Oblivimyre."No. No, take me instead." She said.
"I'm afraid that won't be possible." It whispered, and she could almost see the voice pull its lips into a smirk.
"Not again. Please." She pleaded. It wasn't going to be her fault, again.
"It's either him, or Sophie. Your choice." It said. It knew she couldn't let Sophie die. There was no option of no one. Why couldn't no one die?
"I-Mr. Forkle." She said, guilt swarming her head. This time was so much worse. She hadn't picked him unconsciously, this time she knew what was going to happen. He was going to die.
"ORALIE MOVE!" Mr. Forkle yelled, as Gethen whipped out the sword from the stone. Just a few weeks prior she had told him he wouldn't ever get it out. That it was impossible. But here he was, wielding the sword, and ready to use it. He smug grin crept onto his face. He stabbed Mr. Forkle. Oralie covered her mouth, and tears slowly fell from her eyes. But, Gethen left, and she was alone with Mr. Forkle. It was odd, why she cared so much for a man she barely even knew. But she had to do something, and she ran over to his limp body. Hope. She hoped someone would find her. That they wouldn't die today.
"Are you alright?" She asked. Of course, it was a stupid question, considering he had been stabbed."Not really." He said, and stifled a laugh, which came out as more of a strained cough.
"We need to get you to a healer." Oralie said, as the realization that he might die filled her mind. She was not going to be responsible for another's death.
"No. You can't. There is no fix to this. Trust me." He said. She knew that too. The voice never lied.
"But- please. Let me at least try. There's always hope." Oralie said, and she grabbed the nearest fabric she could, which was her dress. She ripped a piece of the fabric, and pressed it onto his wound.
"Pressure."
"Take care of Sophie for me. Please." He said, his voice having an even harder strain.
"You can't die today. There's still hope." She pleaded, the Black Swan definitely couldn't function without their leader.
"I am dying today." He said.
"But- no! Sophie is going to be shattered! The Black Swan-" she started.
"Will do perfectly fine without me. Trust me. Everything will be alright." He said. But then, two figures in distance cught Oralie's eye.
"Over here." She called. It was Sophie and Keefe. At least this meant she wasn't going to have to break the news herself.
"You kids really shouldn't have come." Mr. Forkle said.

ok I'm going to skip the part that's actually in the book, bc it's very long to write, so I'm going to start writing a little 'remorse' speech form Oralie, and then when she finds out about his twin. Then, after that will be the 'summary' of what this death ability thing does, and the story will be finished! Thanks for reading <3 -mallowmellt
