Chapter One

It was the morning of her Good Morning America interview and Jessica Clementine felt very nervous as ever. She wished her mother was here to comfort her and tell her everything would be alright but she knew that just couldn’t be. Her parents had died in a car accident, in Darwin Australia, where she was filming a music video. Jess looked in the mirror she tried to wipe the tears away with a brush of her hand. But they kept coming, she turned them off instantly when her manger and best friend Emily came in.

“Hey Jess are you almost ready? It’s time to go on like five minutes.”
Jess wiped the water that fell from her eyes minutes before. “Yes I am, I was just thinking.”
“Oh no not about your parents again I hope. Jess I know you’re still upset. But you have to realize that everything in life happens for a reason.”
“So you’re saying there’s a reason my parents had to die?”

“Probably not any reason that we would understand but sometimes really bad things happen to really amazing people.”
“I guess you’re right.”

“Of course I am. Now get your cute little butt out there. Robin is waiting for you.”

Jess smiled. “Okay.”

She was just about to walk out of the room but Emily stopped her. “Hey Jess wait.”
Jessica turned around. “What?”

Emily took a flower from the table and put it in her hair. Jessica looked at herself in the mirror, the brightness from the pink flower helped her outfit to pop, she was wearing white pants, with a shimmery gray sleeveless top. Not exactly her first choice but her makeup artist insisted she’d wear it.

Jessica smiled at Emily, and then walked out into the studio. The crowd was screaming her name, Jessica plastered a smile onto her face and sat down, in a chair next to Robin Roberts. Who beamed at her. “Wow Jessica you look great.”

Jessica laughed. “So do you Robin, you’re like one of my idols.”
Robin looked surprised and smiled. “That means so much coming from a superstar like yourself.”

“Sure I’ll gladly tell anyone who asks me, your journey was so inspiriting how you beat the disease that almost took your life. You were so lucky to have the support of your friends and the world. You always have mine too.”
Robin but a hand over her heart and beamed again. “Thank you, your story has been inspiring one as well. You won the X factor four years ago when you were just seventeen. Since then you’ve been on top of the world with three hit albums, just taking the world by storm, I’m sure it hasn’t been easy juggling a career in light of recent events that happened with your parents last July.”

“No it hasn’t but I try to keep their memory alive by going down to Darwin and talking to friends and family that they had there. I’m American but my parents loved Australia so much, I was raised there until I was sixteen before I came to the states. I loved it, it’s just so simple and tranquil and quiet just like my parents were. I try to be happy every day because I know they would have wanted me to be.”
