Chapter six

Paul was in his brother’s garage working on his truck it had faulty brakes, and he wanted to fix it today before Jessica’s driver had to drive him back and forth to work. He was already depending on her for his livelihood he didn’t want to have to depend on her for transportation too. Paul got out from under the truck and went over to the fridge to get a beer. He started talking long sips, but stopped when he heard footsteps approaching. He saw that it was Jessica and stopped drinking.

She beamed at him, “Someone’s thirsty.”

“Yeah well I’m sweaty.”
Jessica walked in further into the garage and looked around. “So this where you spend your days off.”

“Sorry it’s not as exciting as what you’re used to.” He said sarcastically.

“No it’s simple it’s seems peaceful here. I’d take this over screaming fans any day.”

“Yeah I’m sure you would.” He spat out.

She looked at him again clearly confused. “You know I don’t get you Paul.”
“What don’t you get?”

“It seemed like we were kind of making progress last night, it seemed like you were opening up to me. Now today you just seem cold again.”

“Let’s just call last night a momentary weakness. I’m awake now.”

She moved closer to him so that they were standing just inches apart. She looked down at his sweat soaked shirt and so his pecks peak through. She had a look of wonder and longing in her eyes. “I want to know you, Paul.”
Paul back away from her. “You need to stay away from me. I promise if you get close, you won’t like what you see.”

“You don’t get to decide that for me.”

He looked at her with confusion and pain in his eyes and simply asked. “What do you want from me?”

“I want you to be my date to the Teen Choice awards.”

Paul laughed it was a loud and musical laugh. “That’s not really my scene.”

“I know but I don’t think it’s fair that people are accusing you of a murder, you didn’t commit. Don’t you want to prove them wrong?”

“I don’t need to prove anything to anyone.”

“Look I know this might sound crazy. But you’re the only person in my life, who tells the truth you don’t hold anything back. People have lied to me my whole life and I’m sick of it. I just want a change. Can you be that change for me?”

“I won’t make any promises.”

“You don’t have to promise me anything, Just come with me to the awards, please I really need you there.”

Paul looked at her, she had a look of desperation and pleading in her eyes. He knew that Jessica Clementine was going to be a hard girl to say no too. He had said no cameras to Mike when this all started but now he was thinking of breaking that rule just for her. If there was one thing he was good at, it was breaking rules. Paul smiled that captivating and sexy smile of his. “Okay I’ll be your date Jessica.”

She smiled and it was at that moment that he knew he had her, hook, line and sinker.
