Note: This is Jessica's chapter.
Chapter eighteen.
Jessica woke up that morning and listened to her ipod, she was listening to her new song. "The day Before I met you." She realized then that wasn't just another love song to her. She realized that it was about the way she felt about Paul. Jess turned her ipod off and smiled. She couldn't believe it was finished. Too bad it would never see the light of day.
Jessica had decided something that day.
She was going to quit being a singer.
She loved it but she wanted to be with Paul more than she wanted a singing career. She didn't want to have to leave him to go on tour and come home to find him in the arms of another woman.
Ever again.
She hadn't told anyone this she was supposed to be on a flight to Rio by the end of the day. The label's patience was wearing thin. Emily had told her that they thought they had given enough time off. They thought it was time to get back to work. They wanted her to leave again.
She couldn't do that her heart just wouldn't do it this time.
Emily walked with her phone in hand she barely looked at Jessica.
"Hey are you all packed for today?"
"Actually I'm not." Said Jessica.
Emily's head shot up. "You're telling me you haven't packed yet? It's time to get back to work Jessica. Your fans are waiting for you."
"No the love of my life is waiting for me."
Emily looked as if she had been slapped. "What? You can't be serious do I have to remind you that the label will have your head if you back out on this tour. We have already lost Sean. We can't lose you too."
"Oh I'm sure you'll figure it out Emily." Jessica said grabbing her car keys.
Jessica tried to walk past her but Emily grabbed her arm. "As your best friend I am telling you, you need to do this."
Jessica smirked. "We stopped being friends a long time ago Emily."
Emily looked hurt. "What are you talking about?"
"You've been more of a manger to me than any kind of friend lately. You don't care about me. You just care about the money and the attention it brings you. Find someone else to get rich off of. I'm done." Jessica said leaving.
"You don't want to do that Jessica."
Jessica stopped half way out the door. "Don't worry I'm sure your boyfriend Jake can comfort you. That is if he isn't already with another girl."
Emily glared at her and Jessica slammed the door in her face as she walked out of her house.
Jessica knew that she was being a bitch but Emily had taken advantage of her for too long. Jessica smiled she knew that if she had never met Paul she would have never done that.
She finally had a back bone.
Jessica got in the driver's seat of her car and pulled out her phone.
"Meet me at Riker's beach where we met."
Jessica put away her phone and smiled she wasn't going to see if he texted her back before leaving. She had to just go for it and live in the moment.
She was going to embrace the Night.
Jessica started her car up and drove away leaving Emily at her house along with the girl she used to be.
