Chapter sixteen

That night Jessica was in her room listening to demo’s for her next album, she knew that after the tour was over, the label would want her to release new stuff. She had wash, rinse, repeat and do it all again. She was starting to feel like this life was becoming more of a chore than something she enjoyed. Emily was sitting in the chair that Jessica had by the window, a warm breeze was coming in, Jessica could smell the air coming through the windows. Emily had be begging her to go out all night. Jess had said no but she was starting to wonder if maybe she should. The more love songs she listened to the more she thought about Paul and how he had broken her heart.

“Come Jess, you can’t just sit in your room and listen to sappy love songs all night.” Said Emily.

“I thought you said I need to be more focused on my career.”

“Yeah I know, but not tonight. Tonight we party, tonight we forget.”

Jess raised an eyebrow at her, “What exactly do you need to forget Emily?”

“How bad it’s going to make our label look when they arrest Sean.”

The news had broken yesterday that Sean had shot Paul, fans had been calling the label all day furious that America’s golden boy would commit such an act.

“Oh I guess you would need to forget that.” Said Jess.

“Yeah so why are we wasting our time here? Let’s go out!”

“Okay but it’s nine on a Sunday night. Everything on Main Street is closed.”

“We’re not going on Main Street. No tonight calls for some real fun.”

“Okay what did you have in mind?”

“There’s a party on the other side of town tonight. Jake Miller is having it.”

“Isn’t he like a thug? I thought you would want to go somewhere a little upscale.”

“And miss all the drama?” Emily shook her head. “No if there’s one thing these parties are known for it’s the drama.”

“Okay we will go, but we’re only staying out until two.”

“Four.”

“Fine.”

Emily squealed and got up off the chair. “Good now go change out of those bummy clothes and into something that shows off the beautiful pop star that you are.”
