Chapter seven.

Jessica had showered and gotten dressed, she had on a pink dress with sparkles, and had used her flat iron to put waves in her hair. She looked in the mirror and breathed a huge sigh of relief. Tonight wouldn’t be like all the other award shows, tonight she would have Paul there to keep her grounded and she knew that for the first time she wouldn’t feel like she was alone. She didn’t really feel alone when she was on stage her fans made sure to show her love. But she had always wanted someone to look out in the audience too. Someone to share the experience with, of course in past years she had Sean. But when they went together it seemed like he only cared about how many autographs he could sign and how many news reporters he could talk to. She was glad that Paul didn’t care about the fame, he was a simple guy besides the fact that he could be rude sometimes, she knew that he wouldn’t try to be in the spotlight. The limo came up to Jessica’s house and beeped. She jumped out of her trance when she heard the horn. Then she ran out to the car.

On the way to Paul’s house, Jessica blasted her music on her ipod, she always liked the listen to the song she was going to preform ahead of time. She hummed the words to Beautiful, when she was on the bridge of the song. She noticed the limo had stopped and Paul came out of his house, Jessica rushed out of the limo. She wanted to see what he was wearing. She saw him walk down the front steps he looked like the most handsome guy she had ever seen. He had on a dark blue suit, with a light blue button up underneath it. He walked over to her with a frown on his face.

“The least you could do is smile.”

He smiled a fake smile and then let his face fall flat again. “I hope I’m not over dressed for this thing.”

“Didn’t I tell you? Everyone is going to be in their under wear. We will be the freaks that didn’t follow the dress code.”

Paul laughed and this time it seemed real. “Well at least we’ll be freaks together.”

“That’s true.” She aid.

On the way to the Teen Choice awards they didn’t say much to each other. She noticed that he kept stealing glances at her. She kind of liked that he was checking her out. She would have done the same. But she didn’t want him to get mean again, finally they pulled up to the awards. Before Paul could get out of the car, Jessica put a hand on his shoulder. “Just let me do all the talking.” She said.

Paul nodded like he understood, this was her world, not his.

From the moment they stepped out of the car the reporters swooned over Jessica’s dress and her date. They kept asking her if they were an item and who he was. She had to be careful about how she replied. She only knew Paul for two weeks and things were far from romantic between them.

“We’re just friends, he works for me.”
