Chapter Twenty

One Month Later.

Jessica had finally done, she had moved away from the Hollywood glamour and moved back into her childhood home. Paul had come with her of course, he was working at a garage in town, while Jessica worked at a music store. So it wasn't as glamorous as her last gig. But they respected her there especially she was an ex singer. Jessica still wrote songs though she played them for Paul on her guitar every night.

She wasn't rich anymore. But she was happy. When she broke the news to Lena her friend had been so happy.

"It will be just like old times! I finally have my best friend back!" She had said.

Jessica knew that Lena was right she finally did have her back.

She had settled her law suit with the label by agreeing to give them fifty percent of all her earnings from her previous albums. She didn't like that at first but she knew it was the only way it would go away.

She hadn't heard from Emily since the day she told her off. Last she heard Emily had quit working for the label after Jessica had resigned. She heard that she and Jake had a son together.

Jessica felt bad for the way she had treated Emily. So Emily was obsessed with the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. Jessica had been once too but that was before she met Paul.

Sean was in jail for twenty years for attempted murder Jessica was happy about that. He could never hurt her or Paul ever again.

Jessica sat on the porch and watched the waved crash on the beach Paul came over to her and sat beside her on the porch swing.

"What are you thinking about?" He asked her.

"Everything." She said.

"Well I might have something that can get your mind off that." He said handing her a flyer. She looked at it and saw that it was a singing contest being held in town in Darwin today.

She pushed it aside. "Paul you know I don't sing anymore."

"Jess I know it's been hard for you, just singing for me. And not being able to share your songs with the world."

"But I don't mind." She said.

"I know but you're not happy doing it. I remember seeing the excited sparkle in your eye when you would sing in front of people. And I'm sure the people here would love your music just as much as your fans did back in California."
