Chapter Four

Paul was getting ready for work the next morning, he reflected on what he had said to Jessica the night before. He kind of regretted it, the look on her face when he told her he was a murderer was devastating, and she looked like a scared puppy. He had lied to her, he knew deep down he didn’t kill anybody. But he had to get her to stay away from him, getting close to him would only hurt her. That wasn’t what was best for her.

He scoffed. What was best for her? Who cares? What about what was best for him? The last thing he needed was to date some star studded barbie doll who wouldn’t know danger if it had kicked her in the ass. Not to mention the fact that the news programs would be all over it. He could just see the headlines now. Paul Lightfield convicted murderer dating the princess of pop. That would be sure to make his mother proud. Paul finished getting dressed and walked down the steps to find Brian and Jenna in the kitchen. Jenna had made breakfast and she made him a plate of pancakes.

He sat down at the table beside his brother who was finishing the remains of the milk. He sat down and began to shovel pancakes into his mouth.

Jenna laughed. “Someone’s hungry.”

Paul stopped eating to find that his brother and Jenna were looking at him weird. He wasn’t used to people being around him while he ate. In prison he had always eaten alone, but he had to be nice if he wanted this to work. “Oh I’m sorry it’s just this is so much better than prison food.”

“I’m glad you like it.” Said Jenna.

Paul looked at his brother who just smiled and shook his head at him. “So how was work last night? You got in pretty late.”

“It was fine.”

“Really? Just fine you and Jessica didn’t spend any time together?”

Paul looked at his brother who had a smirk on his face. “We sort of did but it wasn’t my choice. She gave me a ride home in her limo. Then I scared her away.”

Brian laughed. “That’s the brother I know and love.”

Paul wiped his mouth and stood up. “I should get going, thanks for breakfast Jenna.”

“No problem.” She said.

Paul made his way to Stage AE where Jessica would be rehearsing with her boyfriend Sean Smith for a concert they were going to have together. Paul thought he was going to be sick watching the two of them make lovey dovey eyes at each other. The director yelled cut. Like they were on the set of a movie and when Paul looked at his watch he realized it was eight already. First day on the job and so far he had down nothing. He hated sitting around and this little girl had wasted his whole day.

He saw Jessica making her way towards him with a big smile on her face, clearly over the events of last night. “Are you having fun?” she asked.
