Kat POV

"Nat, what exactly is this super important thing we have to do?" I ask her as she grabs the keys to Tony's Mustang. "Are we going to the DMV so I can take my drivers test?"

"Ha! No," Nat replies, getting in the drivers seat. "But nice try. Wanda! You coming?"

"Yes. Just a moment," I hear Wanda reply. She slides into the backseat.

"Guys, what's going on?" I ask, getting in the passenger seat.

"You don't remember?" Wanda says. "Today's June eighteenth."

"I know what today is," I answer.

"Do you?" Nat starts the car and we leave the compound. "Your birthday?"

"Nat, you know I don't celebrate my birthday," I say. "My parents died eight years ago today. So did Wanda and Pietro's. That's not something to celebrate."

"True. Doesn't mean we can't still have a girls day to take your mind off of it," she says. "Just come have fun with us. We don't have to talk about your birthday or your and Wanda's families. But you need to get out more."

I sigh, leaning against the car window, and let a smile cover my face. "Okay, I'm not getting out of this. Let's go, Ginger Girls."

"Wanda, don't you have a trick you can use so we don't have to lug all these bags around?" I complain, my arms starting to hurt from the bags hanging from them. Some of the bags aren't even mine—about half are Wanda's.

"If only," she says.

Nat's phone chimes and she glances at the screen. "You guys go wait at the spa. I have to take this."

"Nat, I know you're an assassin-turned-spy, but why are you acting more secretive than normal?" I ask, staring at her.

"It's probably nothing," Wanda says, nudging me gently. "Let's just go wait at the spa."

Spa day: removing all problems, stress, and other thoughts, replacing them with pure pampering. Who am I to question a spa day?

Pietro POV

"This was a great idea. She'll love this," I say as I help Stark hang up more purple streamers. Even after all these years, it's still her favorite color.

"I'm running out of ways to keep her occupied. How much longer do you guys need?" Natasha says on Captain Rogers' phone.

"I have to go pick up her cake and the lumpia, and get my gift for her, but aside from that, we're all good," Steve says. "Are you sure she'll like this? You know she hates her birthday."

"She will. Things are different this year," Natasha says. "She's different. And she just finished her junior year. That calls for a party."

Captain Rogers sighs. "You're right. I'm going to go pick up her cake and the lumpia and my gift. What time will you be back?"

5:30, 6:00-ish? Depends on how long this takes. I'll see you then," Natasha says, and Captain Rogers hangs up the phone.

"It's a little hard to enjoy Kat's birthday when it's also the anniversary of her parents, my parents and her little brother's deaths," I mutter.

"Don't think about that, man. Think about what makes today good, not bad. I don't think either of your families would want to see you miserable today," Sam says. "I'm not saying you should forget about it. I'm saying you should look at it differently. They're still with you, right? Be happy for them."
