"Need to find that clock tower, need to find that clock tower." I mumbled over and over and pulled at my hair. "I need to find that clock tower."

I must've looked insane, and poor Luke seemed scared out of his mind. Ignoring him, I walked straight out of his room and into the dark hallway.

"Scarlett!" He called and a wave of deja vu swept over me.

"Don't do that." I snapped. I jumped onto my bed and whipped my laptop out.

"Please, Scarlett." He begged, his eyes full of sadness. "Talk to me."

I shook my head in disagreement. Keeping my eyes on the computer screen I said "Go back to sleep, Luke."

"Stop it!" He yelled at me suddenly. "Scarlett! I'm trying to help you."

I eyed him cautiously and considered it.

Should I tell him? Could I trust Luke?

"I just need some time alone, okay?" I said trying really hard not to make it seem like I wanted to get rid of him.

"I-Alright." He looked down at his feet and exited my room, shutting the door behind him. He was clearly still upset.

Finally, I researched them closely and discovered that four of those seven were actually clock towers. And all four were within an hour of here. I could work with that.

I decided to go to one each day, using Dylan's car once he got back. This had to work.

I ended up staying awake the entire night, going downstairs every other hour or so to get a snack and some coffee. Every time I passed Luke's room I'd check on him to make sure he was alright. You know, not in a pool of blood. I am not paranoid.

The sun was just beginning to peek through the curtains and Dylan was still not home. "What am I gonna do?" I moaned and flung myself onto the bed.

And then I remembered... "Work!" I shouted and ran downstairs. I flung open the cabinets and looked for a breakfast drink. No! I will definitely be needing coffee today!

I traded the packet of powder for a granola bar and went back to my room, changing into black high waisted shorts and a band t shirt tucked into it.

Throwing my hair up into a ponytail, I barged down the steps and out the door. "Shoot, shoot, shoot!" I am gonna be late cause I still have to walk there.

I took out my phone and called Marie, the fruit store owner and my boss, telling her I'd try to get there as soon as possible. I went to text Luke about where I was but realized I still don't have his number. He'd figure it out though.

The dirty sand was kicking up and making my chucks all dusty, but it's not like they weren't already a mess.

I arrived there only five minutes late and made all my deliveries super quick to make up for it. Once I pulled back up to the strange, little, orange shop with yellow shutters and a yellow door, I grew nervous.

"Marie, I'm really sorry. I know it's a lot to ask but could I borrow the truck for an hour? My brother ran off and took our only car with him, and my friend's is broken down by the shore." I lied.

She smiled at me. Marie was in her 50's and had wild, stringy, red hair and big, wide rimmed glasses. She was also pretty short, coming up to only my shoulder.

"Sure, hon." She nodded. "Just bring her back with a full tank of gas."

Nothing was stopping me now.

The one I was going to today was called Bellman's Tower and was only fifteen minutes away. My knee shook up and down, and even knowing all I had to do was rest my foot I couldn't get it to stop.

I sighed and flipped on my country station. It turned straight to "Riverbank" by Brad Paisley.

"We got an inner tube, we got a trailer it's here near the river oooooh bllablla bla." I sang loud with uncertainty, forgetting some of the words. "We're laughing all the waaaaay to the riverbank."

Before I knew it, I was pulling away from my spot behind these two white highway lines and onto a smaller road. A light blue sign to my left confirmed that this was the clock tower.

In order to get there you had to go up a really, really steep hill and I wasn't risking wrecking Marie's truck so I parked it below and got out.

I took a deep breath and watched my step, avoiding stones and twigs, and not soon enough was I at the top of the hill.

BELLMAN'S TOWER
EST. 1920

My mouth gaped at the height of the tower.

But in my gut, I could feel something wasn't quite right.
