Chapter 11

*Crow and Clown*

Elmer has been doing as he was told, he has not tried going beyond the servants quarters as his aunt requested though the queen visited him yesterday. She was so sweet as usual and thanked him for the job he was doing. The air around her felt so homey, so loving as they talked about that Elmer hasn't forgotten that moment. He has never focused on someone that much like he did with the queen.

The way she talks, holds herself, it all shows she was born to be a queen. Elmer appreciates this job so much, it helps him talk to people like that, see the way they behave, hold themselves, the way they think, it all just captures Elmer's head. Elmer now looks up to the queen so much "Elmer, I need a favour" Ernest said, Elmer greeted him but shortly since they are kind of connecting and he sees Ernest as a friend.

"Anything"

"I like this person and I would want a flower that show how much love I have for them but I can't tell them, could you get me something like that" Concealed love, Elmer asked himself looking around. He nodded with a smile running over Futher in the garden searching for specific flowers. He found the perfect ones bringing them back handing it to Ernest.

"She will love them, they represent concealed love"

"You're the best Elmer" the prince praised running away. Elmer smiled making his way out of the garden for his lunch break. His morning has been slow today since Bert was nowhere to be seen, Elmer has become quite attached to Bert since he appears to do crazy staffs, Elmer would not want to admit to it but he enjoys Bert's company a little more than he used to do.

"Hey prince of flowers" Era said with a curtsy making Elmer to chuckle bowing "I brought you lunch" She showed her closed container.

"You shouldn't have, I was about to go get my lunch"

"But I did" Elmer denied, he can't eat food from the princess "If you don't take it I will be sad" She gave a sad face that Elmer quickly took the container. She has been so sweet to Elmer and even if Elmer doesn't want to become a burden this was just a gesture

"Thank you"

"No big deal, I wanted to tell you something" Elmer nodded giving her his full attention "I was thinking maybe tonight you can wait for me in the garden, I want to tell you something before I go back to Dagen tomorrow"

"Alright" Era smiled pecking his cheek, she pulled back waved before walking away down the hall. Elmer made his way into the servants dining room with a smile, the royals have been so nice to him ever since he came that he feels like home with them, he opened the container that is filled with chicken and rice looking so good and smells yummy that Elmer couldn't wait to dig in.

"Whoa, what is that smell, I don't remember cooking chicken" the cook Oda announced.

"You have never cooked chicken" Elijah fired back making everyone in the room to laugh.

"And that mouth looks like it has never tasted chicken before" Oda replied back making Elijah to scoff "Who has chicken in here" Elmer raised his arm "Where did you get the chicken?"

"Princess Era gave it to me"

"Why would she give you chicken?" Oda asked taking a piece from the container taking a bite of it, she groaned taking another bite "Guys you should come and taste this chicken" Elmer stepped aside as everyone came in taking a piece of his chicken and when they cleared up the container was empty "am sorry we left nothing, you know it is long since the last time we had chicken"

"No it's fine" Elmer has also taken long but it doesn't matter. Elmer smiled getting himself food, he took a sit at the dinning and ate as other talked among themselves. Elmer enjoyed his lunch his mind going from all the other servants to his parents, his sister and his mother, it has now been two weeks and he hasn't gone back to see them. He knew what he signed up for when he took this job but each day it gets harder the more he doesn't see his mother, his flowers or go up the hill to sing to himself. He enjoyed that so much, his free time.

It is fine being around people all the time now days but still his quiet time was nice and he treasured it a lot. He finished his lunch went back to his work and gladly everyone gave him his free time for the rest of the day until it was time for his rest at six. He went into his quarters to have some rest when Bert walked in disturbing his well needed nap "Hey" Elmer nodded getting up to his elbows, he noticed Bert had. Flowers in his hands "What do these flowers mean?"

"Concealed love" Elmer mumbled sleepily, he remembers giving those types flowers to Ernest "Did someone give them to you?"

"Yeah a friend" Elmer nodded shaking that thought out of his head because it is so wrong beyond measure that even a thought could be so bad "Take them" Elmer caught the flowers

"Your friend gave them to you, why are you giving them to me"

"I want you to have them" Bert took off one petal resting it in my right chest pocket "There, come one we have to go" Elmer didn't get a chance to comment on that when Bert pulled him out of bed.

"Bert my shoes"

"Hurry we can't miss it" Bert said excitedly jumping over what happened like it was nothing, Elmer pulled on his shoes and Bert pulled him out again taking him out of the servants quarters and back the castle "Ernest" Bert called in the dark, Ernest came out with a cape covering his head "Are you ready?"

"Why is he here?"

"I want him to join us" Elmer didn't know what was going on but Ernest nodded glancing left and right before the crossed as if hiding from the guards "Get down, the guards shouldn't spot us" Elmer got more down, he doesn't know why they are sneaking out but they are "Now" Ernest was the first to run into the storage room, Bert followed never letting go of Elmer's hand as they also entered the storage room. Bert put his hand up creating a door into the wall "Let's go" Ernest walked out then, Bert and Elmer.

Elmer noticed that they were outside the castle and into the town. Bert made the door he had created in the wall disappear as they laughed with Elmer looking at them confused "Now let's go" Ernest didn't take off his cloak and they walked with him staring down the whole way.

"Where are we going?" Elmer had to ask, he has been following them for long enough. They have taken him into town, the town he has never gotten a chance to tour, it looks beautiful at night, light shining from above lighting the roads, people walking around, a lot of noise, food on the streets, laughter.

"You will see" Elmer noticed that Bert hasn't let go of his hand until now. Elmer took in the town, it is so different from the village, so much lively and rich. People are just playing around, some are groping themselves kissing like no one is watching. Elmer took his eyes from those who didn't get a room, his eyes moved back to where they are going and it is a theatre. He has always wanted to go to a theatre, the one in the village that looked so beat down but this one looks so spacious that he couldn't stop staring at it "Elmer, we have to climb up"

Elmer nodded watching the way Ernest climbed up, Bert followed letting go or Elmer's hand who followed finally. They got onto the side of the roof holding onto the timber that was close by taking a seat, they could see inside clearly plus hear what is happening. The theater is full, Bert laughed next to him and that got his attention from the people inside and back to the stage where a guy in a crow costume paced around. Another one in a clown costume joined him on stage, they started arguing until the one in the crow gave the one in the clown costume a light punch that wouldn't have thrown him off of his feet but it threw him into the wall making everyone laugh "Think you can mess with me eh" the crow asked walking over to the clown "I am better than you"

"Your a crow, your only job is to scare off birds, I scare even humans" The clown retorted getting off of the floor but fell back down making everyone to laugh. The show went on with the crow and the clown trying to prove who is the better one, who is more scary, who is powerful. In the end no one won but everyone got a laugh until the show ended.

"I think the clown would have won" Elmer commented, the clown is scary than the crow, it might have been a comedy but he enjoyed the clown more and he thinks it can win.

"Yeah the clown is the best and more funny" Bert agreed

"I am team crow"

"What?" Bert asked "We should run away from you" Bert said getting up, he got down as fast as he can as Elmer followed then Ernest who chased after them yelling the crow will win "We don't associate with team crow, we are team clown" Bert yelled back

"When I get you, you all become team Crow"

"You can't force us" Elmer replied and they laughed running the whole way back to the castle like children enjoying the night.
