'It was an accident, it was an accident, it was an accident' Elmer chanted trying to convince himself that it was all just one big mistake and that is why he is dripping wet right now. Elmer knows how the others feel about him, they hate him and they have been so open about it. They judge him because they think he is a thief and all but pouring an entire bucket of water on him was a shock, a very big shock that Elmer was so shocked he didn't move for an entire minute

He wanted to take it as an accident until they all just burst out laughing their asses off to only prove the point that it was indeed not a mistake. This makes Elmer question the storage situation whether that was an accident or not. The worst part is that Elmer has nothing to do about it, he is taken as a criminal by others yet he was put into this position by the king himself, the guests have already left but Elmer's life is still as miserable as ever.

Sometimes Elmer believes he is really cursed after all, he was never wanted by his parents, by the villagers and now by the entire town and the castle. He practically has nowhere to hide since all the guests from other kingdom's saw him, this makes him be seen as a criminal by the entire nation isolating him in the middle of the world all alone. He has never see his mother since the day he was punished, he would want to go see her and make sure she isn't embarrassed by him but he can't because he is always busy here and secondly he is scared of the answer he will receive from her, will she still see him as her son or will things be different.

"Look what we have here" Elmer didn't turn, he closed his eyes breathing heavily. After the day he has just had he doesn't need to deal with Samuel "Did you fall into a river?"

"What do you want?" Elmer asked sternly through gritted teeth

"As I told you before, I would never want anything from a piece of garbage like you" Elmer raised his eyebrows really done, he gets to deal with everyone's bullshit in the kitchen all day long, he gets showers he doesn't want, he rarely rests for the entire day, he cut his finger while peeling and his finger fuckin hurts yet he had to clean all the dishes, the garden, he had to do the laundry a job he isn't supposed to do in the first place yet this is only the second day of working in the kitchen who knows how it will be in a week or a month. All Elmer wants is for Samuel to not get on his plate, is that so much to ask for.

Elmer walked past Samuel, he needs to change his clothes before he gets sick with all this coldness "Where are you going, I haven't told you to leave?" Elmer stared at Samuel just contemplating with what he wants because Elmer doesn't get it. Samuel shows how much he hates Elmer that everything he does pisses him off but then again Elmer has tried excusing himself from the conversation he didn't want to have in the first place but again Samuel wants him to stay around.

Elmer knows Samuel isn't the boss of him and by this time, pleasing everyone isn't Elmer's cup of tea that is why he resumed walking, if Samuel is so pissed he should go and report him for all he cares "I will tell the prince you refused to go see him" That made Elmer stop.

"He wants to see me?" Samuel shrugged walking away without confirming whether Ernest wanted to see Elmer or not. Now Elmer has to go and find out if it is true or not, he walked back inside, he made sure not to pass in the kitchen, he used the long way just so to get a few extra minutes from their chores. He walked into his room, changed out from his wet clothes and into dry ones before walking out going into Ernest's study, it is something Elmer doesn't feel comfortable about after being accused of stealing things.

He reached knocking when a voice told him to enter, Elmer walked in to find Ernest seated on his desk with a book in hand "Elmer, how are you?" Ernest asked with a smile

"Good" what else could Elmer say 'Bad' "You needed me"

"I wanted to ask how you were doing and I am glad you're doing fine" Elmer nodded "You know they tend to mistreat criminals but I am glad you're good"

"What can be done if they were?" Elmer couldn't help himself, he had to ask though deep down he feels like he is the less needed one here and it is one against the entire castle servants which means that it is a loss on his side.

"Are they?" Elmer shook his head no, he doesn't need to creat unnecessary problems "Anyway, if we catch them in the act they get fired but most of the times the criminal has to be fired because after all, we have to understand them-" Understand what?, Elmer asked himself. There is absolutely nothing to understand about mistreatment not even to a criminal "No one wants to work with a criminal"

'Yeah, no one would' Elmer didn't voice that out but nodded masking that off "Have you seen Bert?"

"No, but I guess he will be here soon" Elmer nodded again asking Ernest if he needed anything else. When Ernest shook his head no, Elmer excused himself leaving Ernest's study room. If Ernest was to do nothing about it then no one will, he will just be blamed for being a criminal and nothing will change. It will become worse than it already is for him, no one will be on his side and with his luck.....

"Elmer" Bert called running over to him with a smile, when Bert reached he hugged Elmer tightly. Elmer never thought to see anyone look this happy to see him "I was going to come see you"

"I thought you weren't here yet"

"I came here like thirty minutes ago, I wanted to come see you right away but Ernest needed something" Elmer frowned, Ernest told him that Bert wasn't around when he asked, how come....Elmer decided not to pressure his head with finding out what was going on "So, how are you feeling you disappeared again last night"

"I needed some time alone" Elmer lied, he can't say he was doing laundry for all the Derby for the entire night, that broke his back for real "I have things to do, I will see you later"

"No way" Bert replied pulling his hand "You are not bailing on me again, I will help you finish what you have to do then you give the evening to me"

"That won't be necessary, I will meet you in the evening when I am done" Elmer doesn't need Bert in the kitchen, who knows what the other will say when he is in there with him. The humiliation he got with Bert is enough that receive another with him around again

"You looked so tired the other day, I want to help out and you are not changing my mind" Bert was set firm, he wants to help Elmer out. It will give him time to spend with the man he loves and even if it is doing shores, Bert knows it will be fun "Let us go"

"You're so excited for someone who is going to do chores" Elmer commented taking in Bert's smile when he nodded accepting his help. The smile on Bert's face is like he is going to do the best thing in the world

"It's not about the chores, it is about us doing it together" Elmer will never stop asking himself why Bert enjoys his company when Elmer feels like he is the most boring person however Bert smiles just because he wants to spend time with Elmer "You are smiling" Bert teased seeing Elmer's smile which felt great, he is willing to do everything to get his old Elmer back and show him that what happened isn't the end.

"It's nothing"
