Em's POV:

A couple of days later we were on the road again, this time heading for Glendale in Arizona. We had a 6 hour drive ahead of us so I was entertaining myself with some reading.

"As if Niall would want to date someone who has her head stuck in books all the time".

I shook the girl's words from the other day out of my mind, deciding that they were just stupid fans who were jealous. I couldn't let them get to me. Rather than hide out at the back of the bus, I decided to be sociable and sit on the sofa with the boys. I currently had my feet up across Harry and Niall's laps while they played a video game on the PlayStation together, seeming to not even notice my legs. I was engrossed in my reading, not even being disturbed by their shouts and cheers.

"Crikey is that what you two get up to when you're out of our sight?!" I heard Louis' voice exclaim. I looked up at that, wondering what he was talking about. He was looking at his phone and laughing.

"What is it?" I asked, clocking what page I was on in my book and closing it. Louis got up and came over, showing me his phone screen. On it was a picture of me and Niall attached to a news article. I recognised the scene instantly. It was on Hollywood Boulevard and we were joined at the lips.

"One Direction star Niall Horan locks lips with girlfriend while out and about on Hollywood's Walk of Fame," Niall read over my shoulder. He rolled his eyes. "How does that make the news, surely there's more important things to be talking about!" He protested. I giggled and agreed, blushing hard as Louis showed everyone the picture.

"Let's see it again Lou," I called to him, holding out my hand to take the phone. Louis passed it to me and I instantly scrolled to the bottom, not caring what the article said. I clicked on the comments and started to read through them. I didn't get very far before Niall looked and saw what I was doing.

"Hey don't," he said gently, taking the phone out of my hands. I gave him a look.

"I can take it," I told him. "I just want to know what they're saying!"

"We all think we can take it but it always turns out that we can't. I'm not letting you get sucked into that Em, some of the things that get said are pretty horrible," Niall said sternly. I knew I wasn't going to win this so I let him have it his way, knowing I could find the article myself later. I just needed to see if anything was being said that was similar to what the girls had been saying.

"And don't you dare search it yourself later," Niall said after he had given Louis back his phone. I groaned and picked up my book.

"How did you know that's what I was thinking!" I protested, causing the other boys to laugh.

"Because I know what you're like," Niall chuckled. He draped an arm over my shoulder and kissed my cheek. "Please babe, promise me you won't listen to them? Why does it matter what they think?" He asked. I shrugged.

"Because they might make a good point," I said softly, looking down at the open page in my book. Niall lifted my chin up to look at him.

"Those fans that are crazy enough to think that I would ever get fed up of you are never going to be making a good point," he said with a smile. I returned it with a small nod, reaching up to peck his lips. Niall stayed with his arm round my shoulder while I went back to reading, getting lost in my book once again. After a while I let out a yawn and decided I'd had enough of reading for now.

"We're going to stop in a bit for some lunch Em," Harry said as I closed my book. I nodded in response before taking the book back to the bedroom area and putting it away. I returned to the living room but headed to the bathroom.
