The leader and the elders sat there around the fire, debating and reviewing the situation.

The moon shone brightly over them, projecting a silvery shield over them.

The monthly exchange was in a week. They had to set their demands and grievances straight.

Who had thought they would land up here?

Elsewhere an eighteen-year-old girl sat by the stream and silently wept.

Her toes rubbing against the pebbles underneath and the water wrapping a flowing blanket over them. Her loose locks fluttered in the fleeting wind but she paid no attention to them.

She wanted to stall this but she was helpless. The alpha should take a step or otherwise, the more mourning would land on them.

She looked up at the sky and offered a short and silent prayer to the moon.

She had to find a way to make it stop and she prayed that she discovered it fast.
