She sat silently. She was too uneasy and anxious. On one hand, she wanted to run away from this guy and on the other hand, she had no other option than to be his guest.
A thousand questions were racing through her head yet she kept quiet. Everything seemed so unfair and unfamiliar.
Joshua was sitting in front, beside Lucas. He kept himself busy with a gadget that displayed animated characters. Scarlett wondered if it belonged to Lucas.
But what personal reasons did Joshua have to be here and be with Lucas Black? Scarlett sighed as she couldn't figure out the possible reason.
Something else was bothering her more than she wanted it to, the encounter with Lucas and the weird feelings attached. Was it just because he was attractive or was it because...
Scarlett didn't want to think otherwise.
She could not be chosen for someone who was so defying and disregarding. With all the things that she had heard, he probably had the bitterest soul possible. Could she be a part of that same soul?
Scarlett tried to steer clear of that thought but every attempt was futile. This was true that she felt a connection with him and Scarlett was deeply saddened by it.
The sun had almost set and the Lucas still drove. The night sky declared its arrival with the descending aura of blue-black.
The car stopped and Lucas turned to look at Scarlett and said "we are here." Scarlett nodded and tried avoiding any eye contact.
