It was 30 minutes past 10 when they reached the destination. Scarlett and Lucas
"If you don't mind, I would like to know why you are visiting the mayor. Then maybe I could help you." Lucas asked.
Scarlett frowned. Why would she tell him the reason? And why was he trying to act helpful? Maybe he was trying to portray himself as a nice guy. What did he think that she didn't know anything about him? Or it was because he thought she was a weak pup? Or was it because she was his... that could not be Scarlett told herself. If the rumors were true he could never feel what she had felt.
The more she thought the more annoyed she got. She kept her displeasure aside and answered, "I want him to do something about the factory that's situated near the Amelia biosphere reserve. The pollution is killing us." Her voice broke at the end.
Lucas admired her courage and positivity. But he didn't miss the exasperation she held in her eyes for him. It was bound to happen and he was not surprised.
The purpose that Scarlett had in mind seemed simple and straightforward. She was yet to know about the complications of the human world as well as the human mind.
It wasn't going to be easy, Lucas knew it. "Scarlett it's going to be a bit different from what you think."
Her frown deepened.
"No, I'm not discouraging you. First, you need to present your grievance to the office in written form. Then if the officer thinks that it's of some importance, then and only then he is going to look into the matter." Lucas told Scarlett. "Moreover that does not guarantee immediate action."
"If that's the case then why did you bring me here in the first place?" Scarlett questioned. She was exasperated and her assumption about him trying to trap her was consolidated.
"Firstly judging by your confidence I thought it was something official and you were sent by your alpha. But then I evaluated the situation and concluded that you are on your own. But then again I thought there is no harm in giving it a try. Moreover, we'll ask the receptionist or his P.A. about what we need to do."
Scarlett looked at him suspiciously. Lucas stared back defiantly. Scarlett rolled her eyes and said "okay firstly there's no we. Secondly, let's go in!"
Lucas just shrugged in response, hid his smile, and followed her in.
