She closed her eyes and rested her temple against the window. The sun showered its rays on her.

They weren't successful in meeting the mayor. He was claimed to be very busy. The receptionist had asked them to write a letter first, then and only then could a meeting be fixed. But she doubted if that would be as easy as it sounded.

Scarlett was disheartened with the event. She didn't expect things to be that complicated. The human world was intimidating her. When she set out on this journey, Scarlett had complete faith in herself. Scarlett had thought that a single step would bring about the change that she wanted, her race wanted.

This bright, glowing façade of the city was giving her a headache. Everything seemed so unreal. She missed her parents, her home. Were they searching for her? Were they missing her like she was? Will they trust her?

But did she trust herself?

And should she trust the person beside her?

A shiver ran down her body. What if they had already labeled her an imposter?

The car honked. Scarlett sat up straight and looked at the long line of vehicles in front of them. Everyone was impatient to reach their respective destination, but was it even reachable?

She snorted at the thought.
