"But mommy, I still want to play with Nono," seven year old Jaemin protested.

"Yeah? Well you messed up big time. You won't be seeing him anymore," Jaemin's mother dragged her son out of the house if her ex best friend and Jeno's mother.

Jeno and Jaemin's mother had been close friends since they were in middle school. Jeno's mother doesn't know what happened, but ever since Jaemin's mother decided to remarry, nothing has been the same.

When Jaemin would misbehave, she'd beat on him, allowing her husband to do it as well instead of disciplining him the way you're supposed to.

Even if Jaemin didn't misbehave, she and her husband would always find a reason to hurt the young boy. It didn't matter the reason.

She was sick of it and decided to confront her about it. It's been going on for too long. She's threatened to call the police before and she thought Jaemin's mother had stopped her malicious actions.

But she didn't. In fact, it only got worse.

"Nana, are you leaving?" Nine year old Jeno asked his best friend.

Jaemin shook his head and attempted to run towards his best friend, but failed miserably as Jaemin's mother grabbed ahold of his ear, twisting it.

"Say goodbye, you won't be seeing them for a long time," his mother demanded, twisting his ear more, causing Jaemin to wince at the pain.

"But I don't want to!" Jaemin claimed, trying to squirm out of his mother's grip.

"Shut up! You messed everything up!" His mother scolded," she dragged her son out of the door.

"Mommy," Jeno looked up at his mother with tears in his eyes.

His mother rubbed her son's back and told her to stay there for a moment while she goes after Jaemin's mother.

"You don't have to treat him like that. It has nothing to do with him!" Jeno's mother pulled Jaemin's mother's arm.

Jeno watched both adults arguing from behind the door frame. He watched as his best friend was struggling to be free from his mother's grip.

He wants to help him, but he doesn't know how. He didn't know he'd regret not being able to help him then, once he left...for good.

"Don't tell me how I should treat my son! Our friendship is over," Jaemin's mother snatched her arm out of Jeno's mother's grip in fury.

"Nono!" Jaemin cried out in sobs as his mother tugged and shoved Jaemin into her vehicle, her husband waiting patiently in the car with an evil grin.

"Nana!" Jeno ran out of his house.

The car spun off, Jeno trying to catch up while shouting Jaemin's name. He could see Jaemin's face in the back board glass of the car, crying uncontrollably and banging on the window.

Tears couldn't stop leaking from Jeno's eyes as he continued to run as fast as his little nine year old legs can handle.

Jeno can hear his mother yell after her him, but Jeno continued running, until the car turned the corner and Jeno couldn't see the car anymore.

His place was slowing down until he eventually fell to his knees in the middle of the concrete road, wailing.

Jeno's mother eventually caught up to him and hoisted her son up in her arms, holding him tightly and whispering comforting words in his ears.

His mother rushed them both home, locking all doors and windows. Shutting the curtains and leaving all the lights off.

Nothing was seen but the red and blue lights flashing from the shadows of the curtains.

Jeno was scared. He was confused on what was happening. Where is his Nana? Where is his best friend going? Is he coming back?

Those questions won't be answered for a long time.

Jeno sat up abruptly from his slumber. His chest heaving up and down, sweat dripping from his forehead, his mouth dry.

'Again,' he said to himself.

He always relives that same nightmare everyday and it hurts him that he couldn't help Jaemin back then.

But he has Jaemin now and he won't let him go again.
