Chapter 17: "The monsters in my head always knew that I would lose him in the end.."

Wounds heal, that's for certain. But it's also true that a wound leaves a scar that will always remind you of the pain.

Dad's cheating which led to their separation damaged me in more ways than one. And I didn't know how damaged I was until I saw the hurt in his eyes. I thought love was enough to put all the broken pieces back together like it was never torn apart at all.

But I failed to realize that my brokenness could take a toll on him.

"Hi Vash!"

My brows snapped together as I glanced at the group of girls who greeted Vash. I know how well known my boyfriend is in the university, but it still pisses me off when girls try to come closer to him even if I'm around.

"Kita-kita sa party ni Bricks ha? Don't miss out!"

He chuckled. "Not sure yet if my girlfriend and I could come. Let's see. Sige. Punta muna kami sa cafeteria." I pursed my lips and he noticed it. "Bakit, mahal?"

"Can you not be too friendly?" naiiritang saad ko. "Ang flirty kase ng dating."

His smile slipped away. He cleared his throat. "Sorry. Hindi na. Huwag ka ng mainis. Hmm?"

Lately, I just don't like the crowd.

"Oh. There's Bailey."

Vash called her attention. She waved at him and gave him a smile before she turned to leave with her blockmates.

"Haven't you and Bailey made up yet?"

She's my best friend and it hurts that things were not peachy between us. Primarily, because of me. She tried reaching out to me, but I shut her out because I wasn't ready to share my pain. And because I was so ashamed that the ideal family that they thought I had was fake.

"I don't know how to.. talk to her."

He put his arm around me and pulled me closer. "She's your best friend, mahal. She'll understand."

The day went by in a blur. There were an instance when I tried to talk to Bailey and smiled at her, but as she ignored me I lost the courage. I honestly miss her. I miss my best friend.

"Uy, Louee!

I found him laughing with some of his female groupmates, and it pissed me off big time.

He smiled upon seeing me. "I gotta go, guys. Rose, just give me a ring tonight."

The girl she called 'Rose' nodded. Vash walked towards me with a big smile on his face.
