The next morning was stormy. Siv had lead us to the Meal Hall for an announcement.
"Alright campers, something has come up. Last night, while I visited the Oracle, a new prophecy was told," Siv said.
She held out a small radio. She turned it on, and a ghastly voice began to speak.

As soon as I heard that, I knew who it was talking about

As soon as I heard that, I knew who it was talking about.
"No matter what, Latona has to go. She's the only camper in Cabin 10. And for Cabin 14, It's either Ivy or Isabelle." Siv explained.
Ivy didn't want to go on a quest. I could tell. As soon as she heard Siv say her name, she's had a scared look on her face.
"Siv, I can go," I stood up and said.
Siv smiled. "Good,"
"What about the other two?"
"Cabin 15 and 31. Xenon and Saffron,"
"What if I go? I'd like to travel with Latona and Isabelle..." Mark said.
"Fine with me," Siv said. "And Cabin 31, I'm not sure"
"Let's wait and see if Travis gets claimed. For all you know, He'll be in Cabin 31," I said.
"Good idea,"
Thus marking the day I would regret for the rest of my life.

ONE WEEK LATER...
Ever since I'd been announced to be participating in the quest, I've been doing some hard-core training with Mark and Latona. I'd been working on my magic-sword-fighting skills. Mark was working on controlling his ability to float in the air. Latona was getting very good at healing. She practiced on us whenever we got hurt while training. Broken bones were healed within minutes now.
I've been in this camp for almost two months now. It's already summer, and Cabin 31 is waiting for Travis to get claimed. The head camper of Cabin 31, Jimmie Myrrine, told me that Saffron's kids only got claimed in the summer, and it was June now. June 21st to be exact. Summer Solstice.
"Any child of Saffron born on Summer Solstice is meant to be special. If your friend gets claimed today, he'll be the one meant to go on the quest," Jimmie told me.
Today was the first day of the quest. June 21st. And I was keeping a close eye on Travis. I was hoping he would get claimed today. And then something happened at the fire that night.
I was sitting next to Travis, showing him how I could use magic to hold the fire in my bare hands. Then he asked me something...
"Do you think I can do that?" he asked.
"Not sure, I'll go get Latona, then you can try," I told him.
I didn't even have to get up, and my friend was there.
"You needed me?" Latona asked.
"Can you stop sneaking up on me? It's kinda creepy..." I sighed.
"Sure!"
"Alright, so Travis wants to try to hold fire... and I wanted to know if you'd heal him in case he got hurt," I said.
"Of course!"
"Good. Now Travis, just stick your hand into the fire," I explained.
Travis lifted his hand from the ground and reached towards the fire. As his hand went in, and quickly back out, there was not a single burn. And Siv saw the whole thing.
"Travis, you're making good progress. You might just get claimed today!" Siv said.
The fact that Siv was still holding secrets from us, yet acting so calm, was unnerving. That book was still sitting in my backpack, under my blankets. I wonder if Siv is onto me yet. Then I remember about Travis's hand in the fire.
"Travis, try to grab the fire this time," I told him.
He nodded and put his hand in the fire again, but this time he winced in pain. He pulled out a hand full of burns this time.
"That doesn't make sense. How can he touch the fire, but not hold it?" Latona asked.
"I'm not sure..." I replied. This was very confusing to everyone, even Travis, until that boy from Cabin 31, Jimmie, walked over to us.
"Travis, you're showing good signs. You might just be a son of Saffron after all!" he cheered.
"Saffron's the god of summer, right?" Travis asked.
"Correct,"
"I like summer,"
"So do I,"
"Cool,"
"Mmmhmm..."
Travis seems to have a lot of meaningless conversations with a lot of random people. It's kind of funny sometimes. Until I get stuck in them...
Anyway, while Latona was healing Travis's hand, Jimmie would not stop staring at him. I think he was over-anxious to see Travis get claimed.
