Algy led me to the place where Athaia was hiding. It was an old, run down town hall. Algy and I snuck inside and looked around. Athaia was nowhere to be seen.
"Mother? Where are you? We need to talk about something!" Algy called out.
All he got for a response was the sound of rummaging in the office down the hall. We walked into the room and saw Athaia sitting at a desk rearranging a stack of papers.
"If you dare say a word, I will put you back into the basement," Athaia said without looking up.
Algy nodded. Then he thrust his hand forward, towards Athaia. A bright beam of light flashed across the room and hit her, engulfing her in a plume of smoke.
"Agly? What did you just do?" Athaia's voice was getting higher, more childlike.
Then the smoke reseeded, leaving a mini Athaia in its place. Algy chuckled.
"I demand you hand over the realm," he laughed.
Mini Athaia scowled.
"You can't tell me what to do!" she shouted.
"Actually, I can. A small child like you can't rule over a realm!"
"I can do as I please! You have no control over me!"
"Sorry to break it to you, but he does. You're just a powerless child!" I said dramatically.
Mini Athaia started to throw a fit. She picked up the box of papers and slammed it into the ground. Then she grabbed a sheet and crumpled it into a ball, and threw it at me. The paper ball bounced off my arm and fell to the ground. Algy and I laughed.
Athaia kept throwing paper at us until she ran out. Then she realized her box was empty, she started scavenging around for something else to throw at us. Then I saw a dark smile spread across her face as she pulled a drawer open. Inside was a pile of scissors.
"Don't you dare..." Algy stepped behind me.
Mini Athaia picked up a pair of scissors and chucked it across the room, barely missing me.
"Hey!" I yelled.
Athaia gave us an evil child laugh and threw another pair of scissors.
"Dude, you need to calm your mother down. She's creeping me out..." I sighed.
"Sure can do," Algy smiled.
A ball of paper from the ground lifted itself up and uncrumpled. The piece of paper floated over to Athaia and stuck to her mouth. Athaia scowled and picked up another box. With my luck, it would be full of something really hard. Athaia's hand lifted out of the box. I guess I was right... In her hand was a large stone.
She instantly launched the rock at my face. I countered it by using a piece of paper as a shield.
"Ha!" I laughed.
Athaia threw another pair of scissors, and I smashed it with a rock. Then it dawned on me. Athaia was playing a game. She was trying to kill me by playing rock paper scissors.
"Wow, your mother really did turn into a little kid," I sighed.
Algy nodded.
"I have no clue as to how I'm supposed to undo this.." he said.
"I say you leave her. Can't you claim your realm back now?"
"Oh! That's right,"
Algy walked over to Mini Athaia and grabbed her arms.
"Now, since a child is unfit to rule over a realm, I suggest you hand it over," Algy smiled.
Fear washed over Athaia's face. Then there was a flash of light. It was a blinding light that radiated from Algy and Athaia. The light almost seemed to push me backwards into the wall behind me.
"Did it work?" I asked while trying to stay standing.
"Yeah! Now... what to do with Athaia..." Algy's attention shifted to the now powerless goddess.
"Lock her up!" I cheered.
"Good idea!" Algy laughed.
"NO! You can't lock me up! I am your mother!" Athaia screamed.
That was really weird coming from the mouth of a child.
Algy and I chuckled.
"You don't seem like much of a mother to me..." Algy sighed.
Then Algy, who was still holding Athaia's arm, walked into the other room. Athaia fell to the ground yelling at Algy to let her go, but he wouldn't. In the distance, I heard chains moving, then Algy came back.
"Let's go see Amser, shall we?" Algy smiled.
"Good idea!" I smiled back.
