Chapter 15

"Happy birthday, baby." he kissed my forehead and gave me a small box. "You can only open that when I come back, okay?"

He didn't tell me but he stayed for a couple of days so he could stay with me during my birthday. Nagcelebrate kami sa ibang lugar. We're with a couple of friends. It's already 8 PM and he's leaving tonight.

"Thank you. Come back home early, okay?" I cutely smiled at him. He laughed and nodded.

I didn't want to see him off so I refused to go to the airport. It was hard to say goodbye. After the first day, I felt so empty. I had no one to talk to. Hihintayin ko pa siyang bumaba sa ereplano. He told me that he'll call me when he reaches China so I felt really bored while waiting.

"Tatawag daw siya?" Ivy asked when she noticed that I kept looking at my phone.

"Yeah.. I wonder if he's there already."

"Maybe he's taking a rest. Don't worry. Come on, may klase pa tayo." she stood up and took a bag of bread.

It was a normal day. Calice started talking to me again and she still felt guilty so she's a little shy around me. I got to talk to a lot of people and it didn't feel a little too lonely now that he's not here.

Once I got back to my dorm, I was surprised when he was called me.

[Hi, I'm here already. I miss you.] I could hear the loneliness in his voice. [How are you? Is everything okay?]

"Yes.. I miss you, too." I sighed.

[Gabi na. I'll stay on the call for you. May pasok ka pa bukas.] he sounds like he's tired so I didn't say anything else. I still wanted to talk to him but I know he'll choose me over his sleep and it's not good.

"Good night." We both slept in the call. Hindi pa niya binababa ang tawag pagka-gising ko kaya ako na ang bumaba. I just texted him that I'm going to class already.

As usual, I just had more quizzes, more activities to do, and meetings. We were really busy pero nasisingit ko pa ang pag-tawag ni Ice sa akin. I feel like I'm having a good rest whenever we're on a call. He's taking classes from time to time just so he wouldn't waste a year there. Sometimes, we'd stop talking but it wouldn't reach for two days. Sa una, okay lang talaga sa akin. Parehas kaming busy.

"I thought you hated the taste of alcohol?" Jace asked, refusing to give me a glass of alcohol. Sinamahan ko sila ngayon sa bar dahil wala akong magawa.

"I want to try it again." I took it from him and straight up drank it. "Will I get used to the taste?"

"Baka magalit sa amin 'yong bebe mo, ha! Out na 'ko d'yan." Luca raised both of his hands. "Kung may jowa lang talaga ako, hindi na ako tatambay dito."

"Kaso wala. Hanggang panaginip ka nalang." sinubuan siya ni Ivy ng chips.
