Chapter 17

"Ay, oo! Kobie is a nice guy and he offered to take you home. But I couldn't remember your address and he said that he can't ask you kasi you're sleeping kaya dinala ka niya sa condo niya. Omg, was it awkward? I'm sorry, babe!" she hugged me and pouted.

"It's okay.. He's pretty nice." I was cutting my pancake and pouring syrup on it.

"Diba? Tell me if you're interested. He's single." pabulong niyang sabi sa akin. I laughed and shook my head.

"We just met. That's so fast, Ivy." 

"Yeah, but when you get to know each other, you know. Maiinlove ka doon! I almost did pero mas masaya single life, eh." she shrugged and continued to eat her bread.

"Isusumbong kita kay Tino." I threatened her.

"Excuse me, hindi ako takot doon." she rolled her eyes. "Anyway, may work pa ako. After this, take some rest and drink this medicine." she gave me a paper bag.

I went home after eating breakfast with Ivy. No one's home so it was really quiet in here. I started writing a resume. I don't really know what I need first and they said it's tough to look for a job. Should I get a part-time job first? How about working in a cafe? Sounds good to me.

I changed my clothes and wore a tote bag. I wore my hair in a bun and wore a sweatshirt. Malamig sa bahay kaya hanggang sa paglabas ko ay nalamigan ako. I wore shorts so it won't be too hot later.

I was just walking around the neighborhood until I find a cafe. Unfortunately, hindi naghahire ang mga cafe dito. They're all full, they said. I should check Manila, then. 'Yon nga lang ay kailangan ko ng condo. I need money for that, too.

I sat down after walking for so long. I didn't even think this through. Ang dami ko pang kailangan gawin para lang makapag-ipon. I sighed and drank the water I brought from home.

I was surprised when I got a text message from Jace. He said that his flight is tomorrow. Ang susunod daw niyang balik ay next year pa. We were about to plan for a farewell party but everyone's too busy. They said we can just do it through call and everyone agreed anyway. Every year naman siyang bumabalik sa Pinas dahil may gusto siyang makita. He's just too shy to go near her.

"Rylee?" I immediately stood up when I heard my name. "Oh my gosh! You're here. What are you doing all alone? Ivy's busy, huh?" Elena fixed her hair and fanned herself because it was too hot.

"Yeah, she is. I was just looking for a cafe that's hiring but I couldn't find any. Ikaw?"

"I live around here now! I guess we're going to see each other often." her smile was really cute and her short hair was flying because of the wind. She still looks gorgeous anyway.

"Really? That's nice! You're going to love it here." I smiled at her.

"I do hope so! Anyway, aalis na 'ko. See you around!" she plugged her earbuds in and waved at me.
