Marinettes pov
I walked downstairs and opened the closet. I grabbed a picnic blanket, along with my picnic basket. I made some quick sandwiches, then grabbed some macaroons, croissants, and a few cookies then tossed on my shoes. I headed into my bakery catching my mom and dad's attention. "Hey I'm uh.. I'm going on a picnic with Alya" my dad nodded in approval. "Okay sweetie, have fun! Be back by 7 for dinner please, bring Alya if you want!" My mom said. "Thanks mama. Can I see if she can sleep over?" I asked tapping my foot anxiously. "Of course! Just text me if you need anything!" I nodded and waved goodbye as I headed out of the house.
I made my way down the street, seeing my boyfriend's face all over the streets. I sighed and decided to look at my feet so I wouldn't have to see his face and feel like it was my fault. After about 10 minutes of walking, I reached Alya's. I knocked on the door, and her older sister answered. "Hey Marinette, what's up?" "Oh, hey uh is Alya home?" She turned around and yelled for Alya. Alya yelled back and came to the door. "Hey girl what's up?" I held up the basket and the blanket to where she could see them. "Still want to go for a picnic?" I asked quietly. She nodded and ushered me to come inside.
"Let me change and then we can go" she said as we walked to her room. I sat down on her bed, then she changed and threw on her shoes. And with that, we were off. We walked down the street for about 2 minutes silently, until she decided to strike up a conversation. "So, how'd you sleep?" I looked down and sighed heavily. "Terrible. I had a nightmare." I mumbled. She turned to me and cocked an eyebrow waiting for me to tell her what happened. "Well, I was in a grass field. Nothing but grass and the occasional weed. Then probably about 50 feet ahead of me was Adrien.." she hummed waiting for me to continue. "And when I tried to ask him to stay he.. he told me it was my fault he was in a coma, then he told me I was too late.. and well, then I ran towards him and tried to grab him to turn me around, and he just turned to ashes." She hummed again. "That's weird girl. Do you want to go and visit him after the picnic?" I looked at her with a sad smile. "Yeah but.. I'm not sure how much I'll be able to handle it" I mumbled. She nodded in response, and we finally reached the park.
We laid the blanket down and began eating our sandwiches, having some small talk. It was nice, to clear up my head. It was always mice taking a break with Alya. She always knows how to cheer me up and make me feel better. Once we finished was what I was dreading. "Girl, we've been done for 10 minutes. Are you ready to go or do you need more time?" I looked up at my best friend and softly smiled with tears in my blue bell eyes, threatening to spill over. I nodded in response. We packed up everything we hadn't finished, as well as we folded up the blanket and threw out the trash we had.
We began heading towards the hospital silently. When we arrived we stopped infront of it for a minute. I looked up at the hospital and sighed as a tear slowly rolled down my cheek. Alya put her hand on my shoulder reassuringly. "It's gonna be okay girl. You've got this." I smiled softly at her and nodded, then we headed inside. We checked in with the front desk, and we were lead to his room shortly after. "He's still in a coma, we've figured out he could be in a coma for as little as two weeks up to a year." I looked down and hummed in response. I could feel the tension. He was right there. Infront of me, behind this door. I turned over and looked at the seat I had been sitting in the day before. "You ready girl?" Alya asked.
I stayed silent for a minute before lightly nodding in response.
