Chapter Ten

Mirhiban ran out of the hospital and sat down on the first bench she came to. Her mind a confusion of thoughts running wild in her head. How did Sanem know Aziz? Was he still married to Huma? How her heart started to beat so fast she thought it would jump out of her chest. How handsome he still was and how to this day she still loved him. 

She sat there, trying to hold it together, wringing her hands, how could her heart break still be there.

Then she heard his voice, soft almost a whisper "Mirhiban" She didn't move just sat there looking at the blue sky, he came and sat beside her.

"Where have you been my love? I looked everywhere for you, even Remide hired a private detective to find you but even he couldn't find you, I was at a lost."

In her mind, she answered him but kept the words to herself, she knew about the detective, Remide had come to her and after seeing the state she was in, kept her secret, even from her own brother.

He gently touched her hand, and her soul screamed out that she wanted him, still needed him.

"I had to leave, I couldn't understand how you could be with a woman like Huma and say you loved me. I had to take care of me, Huma was such an evil person. She would have destroyed me, she nearly did."

"I don't know what you think happened between Huma and I but there was nothing between us."

"Aziz! I knew she was pregnant, I overheard her on the phone, talking to someone that she was at the agency to tell you about the pregnancy." she looked at him finally and could see the confusion in his eyes.

"Pregnant, Huma, wasn't pregnant, at least not with my child. I couldn't stand the woman, she was all the things I hated in a woman, she was aggressive, thought she was better than others, treated my employees as if they were her servants."

"Then why did you marry her?"

He took a deep breath and also looked toward the sky "I searched for you for days, when Remide came back and said the detective couldn't find you, that you must have left Istanbul, I was shattered, a shell of a man, I walked around letting others lead me, until finally I just worked, day and night, I worked to build the agency, to keep my mind off you, to have something to live for." He stopped and looked at her, she was still beautiful and his heart was still beating with the love he had for only her. "Huma, kept coming around, working in the agency, trying to take your place there, Remide tried to warn me about her but I didn't care about anything but the agency. I lost several good employees because of Huma and the way she treated them but I was too blind to see that. She finally wormed her way into my private life, I let her lead me by the nose and did whatever she said about everything but the agency. Then one day I woke up, the agency was a success, but my personal life was in shambles, I couldn't find you and you weren't coming back, and even if you had, somehow during this time Huma and I were married. I didn't remember it happening. Soon after we were married, Huma became pregnant and  our first son came along and then a couple of years later our second son. I loved them both so much, they were the reason I started living again. But, I never loved Huma, I never cheated on her because of the marriage and our sons, but I never loved her. Then one day, she said she could no longer live in a loveless marriage, she was divorcing me and taking Emre with her and that Can could stay with me. She crushed our first born son, she just left him, he cried for her not to take Emre but she didn't look back, Emre came to stay with us during the summers but it was hard for both my sons, Emre had to live with a mother who, well, I don't know what to say about her."

Mirhiban was crying, all the hurt this woman had caused and to leave one son, how could a mother do that. "So you are not married any longer?"

"No, Can was 6 and Emre 4 when Huma divorced me."

She thought about Sanem and her book, took a shuddering breath "How do you know Sanem?"

"Her sister Leyla works at the agency, is now married to my son Emre. Sanem came to work there and her and Can met and fell in love."

He heard Mirhiban gasp "Can is Sanem's, the one, they are in love." he said.

"So, is the woman who, oh my God, Huma, I don't know what to say about this woman, how can someone be so cruel and evil even to their own child." she stopped talking as Aziz was looking with a how do you know look "Sanem, is writing her book again and asked me to read it, she was telling me about all the things Huma did to keep her and Can away from each other."

"I see, Huma is evil but right now I want to know about you where you have been, are you married, have children."

"No, I never married, I couldn't well didn't even try to find love again."

"Then let's have dinner, get to know each other again."

She shook her head "I am not sure I can deal with Huma again. Listen, Aziz, I went through a lot back then, I am not sure I want to go through that again, not sure I can."

"I am a stronger person then I was back then, I won't allow Huma to come between us again, she never really loved me, just my family's status in Istanbul and my money. I promise I won't let her hurt you again."

"Have you made that same promise to Can and Sanem?"

He nodded his head yes "I became ill and had left Istanbul, that is when Huma came back. Please, let's have dinner and I will tell you everything, I know I can trust you with the truth and I can see you care about Sanem."

"Ok, I will meet you tonight but a place outside of Istanbul, I will send you the address." She stood to leave and Aziz hugged her tightly.

"Tonight, We will talk tonight." she said and walked away.
