Chapter 55

Samem's phone pinged that she had a text but since she was in the conference room, she hadn't had a chance to look at it. She was more concerned with what Aylin and Fabri had to say. Metin's phone also pinged and he did read his message and then nodded to Can.

"I am sure we are all anxious to hear what you think is so important." Can said.

Aylin nodded to Fabri and he spoke "I am sure you know that both Aylin and I have been to see Huma." Everyone nodded. "But, it is not what you think, neither Aylin nor myself wish to be involved with any more of Huma's schemes."

"Then why are you here today?" Asked Metin.

"Look I understand that none of you trust us, and you have every right not to. We have done some pretty nasty things to both Sanem and Can." said Aylin "I have been able to do a lot of thinking about what I did to this family. For my own selfish reasons, I wanted to ruin you the Divit name. But, Sanem was a pawn that Emre suggested we use and we did."

Sanem looked down at her hands, she had been fooled by this woman so many times she wasn't sure she would be able to believe her now.

"Listen, I know I have no right to ask this of you but please, just let us tell you what we know." Added Fabri.

Can looked around at the people in the room and his eyes landed on Sanem, she looked up at him and nodded her head ok.

"Alright, we will listen but if I think for one second that you are lying to us again, I will have you thrown out of this office, NO!  I will personally throw you out." said Can. 

"Huma contacted both Fabri and I through her attorney, she had him ask us to come to the prison and after we discussed it we both agreed to go." Aylin stated. "I wanted, no, needed to hear what she was going to say."

Fabri leaned forward "You see, we both have had a lot of time to reflect. I am truly sorry for the way I handled things but my attraction to Sanem led me to do some unwise things." he stopped "That is not an excuse, I am not asking you to forgive. I have done a lot of soul searching and I didn't like what I seen."

"I agree." added Aylin "I had convinced myself that I didn't deserve what Aziz did to me when he fired me. I blamed him and not myself. I know and now understand, that I did this all to myself." She looked directly at Leyla "I didn't love Emre, not in the way a woman should. I guess I am as bad as Huma, I wanted to the Divit name, the Divit wealth and the prestige of being a Divit." She paused for a moment. "Emre, due to Huma's guidance has always felt, no, that's not right. He was always told that Can was the favored son, the chosen one, the one who Aziz would always pick first and he believed that until he seen how you forgave him for everything he did, for how he acted and now with finding out that Aziz isn't really his baba, well, Aziz proved he was his Baba no matter what."

"How do you know all this?" asked Leyla.

"Huma" she simply answered.

Fabri took over "She asked to see her thinking that we both still held on to our anger and hate, when in fact, we both has come to terms with what we did. Neither one of us wants to continue in the manner we did before." he stopped for a moment "Aylin called me and we decided to hear Huma out, that maybe if we helped you then we partially right what we had done wrong."

"So, what did she have to say?" 

Fabri spoke again "She wanted us to help her to break the two of you up, to somehow ruin the ruin the business so that you would sale to us and then she would be a partner. She even stated she could foot the bill."

"How? She has no money." stated Aziz.

"Oh, but you are wrong, she had kept offshore accounts for years. She didn't go in detail but told us to visit her again in a couple of weeks and she would have her plan ready to go." Answered Aylin. "After we visited Huma, we contacted Emre and told him everything."

"So, why call us now?" asked Can.

"Well, she called us back to prison, it seems she no longer needs or wants our help, she has someone else to do her dirty business."

"Who?" whispered Leyla.

"I don't know. As we were leaving though another woman was there to meet her." answered Aylin. "This is all we know. We tried to call Emre today but his phone went straight to voicemail so we took a chance and came here."

They stood to leave, Fabri turned before walking out the door "I know this doesn't change what we did but at least I hope you can stop her." He then turned and followed Aylin out the door.

No one said a word for a few minutes, then Can stood and walked over to look at the window. He watched as Aylin and Fabri climbed into a taxi then he turned.

"What is Emre doing?    Why won't he answer his phone?" Can asked "Is truly working with Huma again after everything that happened."

"Let's no jump to any conclusions." Said Aziz "We need to find out who this mystery woman is first."

Metin spoke up "That is what I have to tell you, Huma has had several visits from a woman named Amelie Dubois. I don't know who this woman is, but I have my staff looking into it. So far, we haven't found anyone by that name."

Sanem's phone pinged again as did Metin's, both looking down and then speaking at the same time "It's from Emre."

Metin spoke first "He said, this is not what it seems, he is following up on something and will tell us everything when he returns. To trust him."

"Mine says the same thing." said Sanem.

Metin left to return to his office to follow up and they all agreed to meet at Can and Sanem's. Sanem had called her parents to ask them to join them. Can had asked that security be doubled until further notice. They packed up for the day and closed the office.
