Chapter 53

While waiting for Metin to arrive, everyone is on pins and needles. Can has not said a word, wondering what Metin has found out. He seemed to be surprised about who had visited Huma.

Emre had walked out of the office, stating he was going to wait for Metin in the lobby. Everyone nervous, would they finally find out who had been helping Huma.

"Sanem" Can said as he stood "I need to talk to you before Metin gets here." Sanem nodded and followed Can out of the office. They walked over to a private area, Can pacing back and forth.

Sanem touched to arm to calm him down. "I know who else visited Huma already." Sanem looked at Can without saying a word, surprise on her face. "I wanted to tell you earlier and now I need to tell you before Metin gets here." She could only nod her head. 

"It was me." Sanem's mouth fell open. "I wanted to talk to her, to try and have her tell me why she was continuing to come after us."

"And did she tell you?"

"No, she stated she had nothing to do with what was going on,"

"And do you believe her?"

"I don't know. I usually can tell when Huma is up to something but as you know she has fooled me since she came back to town." He shook his head "I don't know what to believe."

Sanem gave Can a small smile "I know this is hard for you and I don't trust Huma but what if she is telling the truth?"

"I just don't know! I mean she has fooled us before and now with all these people who have visited her in prison. I don't know what to think."

"Ok, let's wait for Metin and see what he has found out." Together, hand in hand they walked back toward Can's office just as Emre and Metin arrived. Meting looking straight at Can.

"It's ok, Metin, Sanem knows and we need to tell everyone else."

Metin nodded and they all walked in.

They all waited for Metin to start.

"I found a few things today, first of all, one of the visitors I was surprised to find out about was Can."

All heads turned to look at Can, noting that Sanem didn't seemed to be surprised about this visit.

"I went hoping that Huma would open up to me, she said she doesn't have anything to do with what is happening now, but I don't know what to believe."

Metin nodded his head and continued "I agree I don't know what to believe either, but she told me a few things that seemed to make sense. But, with Huma, you have to take her words at face value."  He stopped for a moment. "She states that she is not part of this and that she had told Can the same thing earlier. When I asked her about all the recent visitors she laughed."

"Why would she laugh, does she think this is a joke!" said Aziz with disgust in his voice.

"Can I get a glass of water before I continue, this will take a while?" Asked Metin, CeyCey nodded and left the room to get him water.

When he returned Metin took a long sip and then continued "Huma told me about her visitors and that she had not asked any of them to come see her. She was especially surprised to see Yigit and Polen but she stated that the brother and sister were acting strange. She didn't go into to it just said they asked for her help so that Yigit could return to Turkey and continue his business."

"What! The coward ran off to save himself from being prosecuted and how does he think Huma could help?" said Can

"He wanted Huma to confess that everything was her idea and that because he loved Sanem so much she had convinced him to go along with her. Huma said she laughed in his face. She may have given him some ideas but even she became afraid of what all Yigit might do. Sh e said he acted on his own especially about what burning the journal and push Can. She also stated that he had said a few things that scared her because she believed he would have harmed Can if it came to that."

Metin took another sip of water "Huma said the pair left very disappointed." he stopped and bowed his head "There was one other visitor that went to see Huma a week ago." He stopped again and Can could tell he wasn't ready to talk about this visitor.

Metin could tell Can was getting nervous about what he was going to say but he was hoping that the person would speak up, just then Emre's phone rang and he said he had to take the call and left the room.

Can stared at Metin when he finally spoke "I was hoping the person would speak up but since he didn't." He shrugged his shoulders "About a week ago, Emre went to visit Huma and it wasn't the first time."

Leyla gasped in surprise, Sanem could tell Can was also surprised and could tell he was about to explode.

"Why didn't he tell anyone?" Can asked.

"I don't know and Huma wouldn't say what they talked about. I am not sure if she is trying to make everyone think Emre is on her side or if she was calling my bluff." 

Leyla sat down in the closest chair, "Why would he go see her and not tell Can or anyone else?" she cried "Oh, Allah, I hope he isn't getting involved with her schemes again."

"CeyCey, please go tell Emre to join us when he gets off the phone." Can asked.

CeyCey nodded and walked out of the office, running back in almost as quick as he had left.

"Can Bey, Emre is leaving, I seen him walk toward the front door."
