Gamze hadn't slept well the night before, going over in her mind all the things Ceyda had done to break up Can and Sanem, what she had done to cause Gamze to lose this account. It wasn't like the woman really knew Can, all she really cared about was his money and prestige. These were at the top of the list when it came to men for Ceyda, and add to that the fact Can was over the top gorgeous. Well, it didn't matter, her reputation was at stake also. She thought about what Can and also Sanem had said to her, it had been in her head since she walked out of the agency. Could she really be a private consultant for companies, of course, she could.
She arrived at Compass Sports early and placed her resignation letter on Ceyda's desk, she gave her two weeks notice and hoped that Ceyda would be professional for once. For good measure, and to be respectful, she had placed a copy of the letter on Ceyda's father's desk. He probably wouldn't see it for a couple of weeks but at least she had done what she thought best.
She finally placed the call that she regretted to make but she knew it was best to get it over with.
"Gunaydin, Gamze. Do you have news for me?"
"Evet, and I am sorry but Can Divit refuses to work with Ceyda."
"I thought that was all worked out."
"I did too, but apparently Ceyda broke the deal we had made with Firki Harika." she paused for a moment then pushed forward "Can we meet for dinner tonight, I may have a way you can still work with Can and not go through Compass Sports."
"Evet, I am packing to leave in the morning so is the restaurant in my hotel alright around seven?
"Evet, I will meet you there and thank you." She hung up the phone with a smile on her face.
She went to work on other projects she had going on and was surprised when she heard Ceyda knock on her door. She looked up to see her holding her letter of resignation.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Ceyda asked.
"I think it is for the best that I move on. I want you to know I have loved working at Compass Sports and I have learned a lot from you and your father."
"Is this because of Can?"
"Well, yes and no, I have been thinking that I wanted to do something else and yesterday just gave me that push to go forward. I hope you will understand."
"Oh, I do, more than you realize. Do you need a letter of recommendation?"
"That would nice."
"I will have one typed up." she turned to walk away and turned back "By the way, after the letter is typed up you can leave, I don't want you here after today."
Gamze was shocked but she should have known, Ceyda didn't like to lose at anything. She went and grabbed a box and started to place the few items from her desk that belonged to her. Before she was done, Ceyda's assistant walked in and handed her the letter.
"Good luck" she whispered "You deserve it after working with that woman. I wish I had the nerve to do the same but I need my job."
"If I hear of anything I will let you know." Gamze smiled at the other woman. She finished up, grabbed her bag and box and walked out the door. She walked down the street to a local cafe and stopped and ordered a coffee. She couldn't believe the feeling of relief that she felt. After her coffee was delivered she text Can with her news. He replied he thought she was doing the right thing.
Tonight could be the beginning of great things for her, she would put her best foot forward and become the best consultant she could become. Her phone beeped with a text and she was surprised when she read the message.
"I am sorry you are leaving us. I would like to discuss some options for you if you are willing to meet with me." The text was from Ceyda's father. She took a moment before she text back.
"I am sorry also but I didn't feel I had an option. I would love to meet with you but only away from Compass Sports."
A quick reply came "I will call you when I am back in Istanbul." Gamze smiled, yes her future was bright.
