Chapter 58

Everyone was stunned into silence after Metin had spoken.

Aziz finally asked "Who is she? Why is she targeting my family, my sons, if Huma is the one who destroyed her family?"

Metin shrugged his shoulders "Hopefully we will have the answers soon. I suggest that everyone rest tonight, and we wait to heart from Omar in the morning."

"Do you think he will have something by then?" Asked Nihat.

"He is extremely good at his job so I expect we will hear something." answered Metin, he walked over and spoke to Can and then waved goodbye to the rest of the group as he left to go back to the city.

Can took Sanem in his arms and held her tight, whispering "I will get to the bottom of this I promise you."

"I know, Can. Let's just say goodnight and forget about all this until the morning."  Can nodded his agreement. They told everyone goodnight and then walked to their cabin.

Nihat had Emre in his sights, not sure if he could trust the young man. Leyla watching her father, knowing he was about to lay into Emre. She stood and hugged her mother. "I think Emre and I have a lot we need to talk about." she stared over at him "If you do not mind we are going to get some privacy to do just that."

She walked over to Emre and nodded her head for him to follow. Her anne and baba watching, hoping she could remain strong until she knew the truth. When they were out of ear shot, she turned "I don't know what to think anymore! I don't know even know if I can trust you." She paused, Emre waiting, knowing she had more to say.

"I am not even sure you deserve the benefit of the doubt. You have done so many things to the people I love, to me." she sighed "How do I believe you now?" she stopped, tearing running down her cheeks. Emre reached up to touch her cheek, but she stepped out of his reach.

"You don't know how it felt when everyone looked at me. I saw pity in their eyes. And poor Sanem!" she took a deep breath "She has to think I am the biggest fool."

Emre spoke softly "You have every right not to trust or believe me, but I swear I have nothing to do with what is happening."

"I want to believe you! I do! You have to understand that I trusted you before, I am the one who always took up for you, believing that everyone else was lying." she cried softly "Look, you may hate me for not trusting you, but I can't, I think until this is over, we should not stay together. "

"leyla, I will never hate you, could never hate you. You are the reason I am becoming a better man." he looked out over the farmland "I truly understand, and I will do whatever you need me to." 

"Then stay at your family home, try and talk with your baba, and tomorrow when we all meet again, hopefully, we will have some answers." Emre just nodded, kissed her forehead and walked away.

Leyla breaking down in tears as he left, her anne coming over to hold her in her arms into her daughter's tears subsided.

The next morning came with warm winds and bright sunshine, Sanem was looking out the window when Can walked up behind her and wrapped her in his arms. She felt the warmth of his body next to hers and wished that this moment would last forever.

"Did you sleep at all?" he asked.

"A little, I was worried about Leyla." 

"I know it's hard, but I want to believe him. Apparently, Baba stayed with Emre last night in town, he felt someone should be with him. I guess he is right, Emre has been through a lot also."

"Ah, Can, he's your brother, you love him. Let's just wait until we hear from Metin and maybe we this will all finally end." she smiled at him "I think I will go help Anne and Mihriban with breakfast." She turned and kissed him sweetly on the cheek and walked out the door.
