Bryce laid his head on my stomach while I ran my fingers through his hair. We'd been laying in a comfortable silence for a while. Which is weird for Bryce because he's always in the talking mood. So something must be bothering him.
"Bryce?"
"Hm?"
"Is something bothering you?"
I ask, momentarily pausing my movements.
"Not that I can think of. Why?"
"You're quiet. You're never quiet."
I say.
"I've just been thinking."
He says gravely.
"That's dangerous."
I joked.
"I- I think- Nevermind."
He stutters with his thought.
"What's up Babe?"
"Nothing."
He sighs, sounding defeated by his thoughts
"I know you're lying."
"I just don't know how you'd feel about it."
"Bryce, I've known you for so long, that anything you'd say, I'd honestly be okay with. Unless you ask for a threesome, then don't even bother thinking of it."
I say, knowing Bryce it was a fair possibility.
"No, no. It's not that it's just. Nothing. Forget it."
He says quickly dismissing the thought.
That's the thing with my Bryce. He's never shy. He's open about everything.
"Bryce. Its gonna keep eating at you. C'mon babe. You can tell me."
I say gently So he knows I'm being sincere.
" I think I want a baby."
Wait- did he just say he wanted a kid? My Bryce? Wants a kid? With me?
Wow, it's gonna rain.
"What?"
I say shocked.
"That's why I didn't want to tell you."
He said sitting up, getting ready to leave my room.
"No, no, Babe. That's not what I meant."
I said grabbing his wrist.
"It just surprised me. Come on, come sit back down."
I said patting the spot next to me on my bed.
He sat down with a sigh and intertwined the fingers on our hands.
"Can I ask what made you want one?"
I ask cautiously not knowing how much he wad willing to open up about.
"I had a dream. We were married, and we had two boys."
"Bryce."
"I know. That's really cringe, but every time I look at you, I see that."
He says honestly.
"I'm gonna be honest. I've been thinking about kids too."
I say making his head snap to the left to look at me.
"Have you?"
"Yea. I mean, maybe not now. But I think if we tried now, we could be ready."
"Are you saying you want this?"
He asks, his smile beginning to grow.
"I want this Bryce."
I couldn't even finish my sentence before Bryce crashed his lips onto mine.
I smiled into the kiss and pulled away.
"Babe" Bryce whined.
"Now now. Maybe later. I'm tired, so let's just lay down."
"Fine." He said with a slight pout.
"Don't pout at me or you won't get any at all."
"I'm not pouting."
He said quickly putting a small smile on his face.
I smiled to myself as I shifted and got comfortable in my bed. Then Bryce went back to his original place with his head on my chest this time. We laid in silence for a few minutes before I started the conversation.
"How many kids do you want Bryce?"
I ask, my hands going back to his hair.
"At least 3. 5 at most."
"We're gonna separate them out right?"
I say with a slight chuckle.
"Oh yea. I think we'd die if we had one right after another."
"I've always wanted a big family. That's always been my dream."
"What else was part of that dream?"
He asks playing with the string on my sweats- in a non-sexual way.
"I was a stay at home mom. I lived in a three floor house with a wrap around porch. I had at least 3 boys. And at least 1 girl."
"I never thought I'd have kids. Then I met you."
He says smiling sheepishly.
"Bryce Hall, are you going soft on me?"
I tease.
"Maybe just a little."
He laughs.
"You realize we'll have to get our own house if we have five kids right?"
"Let's cross that bridge when we get there. I don't wanna think about leaving the boys."
"The house next door is for sale. We wouldn't be too far away. Just a two minute walk."
"Yea. We'll look at it tomorrow. For now, I say we get some sleep."
"That works for me."
Me and Bryce moved underneath the covers. This time I was cuddled up to him with one of my legs around his torso.
Maybe he dropped a huge bombshell, so what?
Because deep down, I know, the only person that I would be happy having kids with, is Bryce.
