(Also, no hate you any of the characters involved in this. I had to make some people look bad, but I love them all.)
Quinton. I have no idea how to even start to describe Quinton.
He so kind, and gentle, and, I don't know, He's just, Quinton.
You see, Quinton is a popular jock. He is captain of the high school basketball team.
Then there's me. I'm a total book nerd. I always have my nose in a book, and I've never done sports. I'm the total opposite of Quinton.
We started dating because he needed a tutor and I was the only one willing to do it. Then, we started hanging out even after he didn't need a tutor. But, he is still worried about his popularity.
And I'm okay with that, because I wouldn't want to ruin his image. But his close friends know about us, and let's just say they weren't to happy about it.
Especially not Cynthia. She was his ex and she hated me.
Bryce, and Josh, they were rude when they had the chance. Nessa hated me. Lauren, Cynthia's best friend hated me, and clearly so did Cynthia.
One day, though, they took it to another level. Cynthia had asked me if I wanted to eat lunch with her, she said something about makeup but I wasn't listening since I had my guard up. She was never voluntarily nice to me. Never.
I agreed and when we got to the table she turned and looked at me.
"Is that you?"
She was holding a flyer that had my face over someone else's. She was wearing skimpy clothing and on the side it had the words 'virgin mary' plastared all over it.
I stared at the flyer in disbelief. I looked up and seen the whole cafeteria laughing and holding a copy of the flyers in their hands. My breathing became shallow and tears clouded my eyes. I refused to let them fall in front of everyone.
I turned to run out of the cafeteria when I ran right into Quinton. I put my head on his shoulder and breathed in. His hand was went protectively to my shoulder.
After a couple seconds, he pulled me away and out both hands on my shoulders.
"This is about me. This has nothing to do with you. Here." I nodded understanding what he was getting at and grabbed his backpack from his hand.
He marched over to Josh who stood up with a cocky grin on his face.
"Man, I didn't know this was under all that. No wonder why you wanna keep her on a leash."
Quinton gave him a tight lipped smile before shoving Josh. Josh returned the favor and shoved him harder. Some kid tried to break it up, but Josh moved him out of the way.
"What is the matter with y-"
He was cut off by Quinton's hand connecting with his jaw.
Josh pointed a finger at Quinton and said they were done. Quinton walked away and took me to his car.
We drove until we got to a secluded place in the woods.
We got a few blankets out of his trunk, since they were in there from the last time. We laid them on the grass and sat down in a comfortable silence.
"Thank you." I said looking over at Quinton. He looked at me and furrowed his eyebrows.
"For what?"
"Sticking up for me."
"Of course. I wasn't going to let them get away with it."
"Thank you. It means a lot."
"You're welcome."
I turned so I could look up at Quinton and softly kissed him. His hand came up and cupped the side of my face, depending the kiss just a little. I let my arm rest on his chest as the other made its way to his hair.
After a couple minutes, we pulled away smiling and out of breath. I put my head in the crook of his neck and my arms wrapped around his torso. One of his arms was under his head, the other resting over my shoulders.
We laid that way, looking up at the sky, day dreaming, not wanting to leave our spot and return to the real world.
We would work through and figure everything out another day. For now, we were just laying there, that was our getaway.
