Chapter Twelve

KAMINA

I plopped down on the roof and sighed. This was a long day. The sun was now starting to set as I watched its beauty. As I admired how the sun slowly went down, I felt a familiar presence of an Uchiha.

"Hello, Sasuke" I greeted with my eyes still on the setting sun.

I heard him walking towards me and I soon felt him sit beside me. I shifted my eyes from the setting sun to him. He was staring at the sky while I admired his image. The red and orange lights from the sun made his face clear and beautiful. His eyes were perfectly onyx and very soft at the moment. His lips were slightly parted as he admired the scenery. I found myself blushing at how handsome he looked under the sunlight. He smirked before turning to face me making my face heat up a little more as I looked at the floor.

"Do you like what you see?" he arrogantly asked making me scoff.

"No!" I said making him give low chuckle before everything fell silent.

"Did you mean it?" he suddenly asked making me turn to him with confusion.

As I turned to face him, I saw him blushing as he avoided eye contact with me. "What do you mean?" I asked

"You know... what you said... while we were on the bridge... Did you mean it?" he asked with embarrassment.

I was confused for a while before I suddenly remembered what he was talking about. "If you always reject Sakura, does that mean you're also going to reject me if I asked you out on a date?"

I giggled before I suddenly blushed. Wait a second! Is he asking me if I really meant that I'm going to ask him out? Alright, this is humiliating!

"What do you mean?" I asked shyly

"I mean, would you... really ask me out?" he asked nervously making me blush even more.

I panicked inside.... What am I going to say?! I'm afraid that if I answer 'yes', he'll think I'm another fan girl and avoid me. If I answer 'no', he'll get offended and avoid me too... Geez, this is hard.

"Umm... If I were given the opportunity then why not?" I said with my face still as red as a tomato. I kept my gaze on the floor.

We were silent for a while before I decided that this kind of silence was killing me!

"Umm... Are you alright now?" I asked

"Yeah. Thanks to your chakra, I didn't have to rest.... But you didn't have to do that. Kakashi-sensei said that you would've died if he didn't give you enough chakra to stabilize you for the mean time." Sasuke said in a serious tone.

"But... I felt your faint heartbeat. I knew that if I didn't give you chakra, it would have died down" I stated

"You would risk you life for me? Are you crazy?" he asked

"No. I made you a promise, right? In gratitude for what you did the other night, I shall protect you and the others with my life." I said

"Like I said before, a simple 'thank you' would have been fine. All I did was make you sleep, what's the big deal about that?" he asked with a little frustration.

"And like I said before, it was so much more than that" I sincerely said.

I could feel his curious gaze on me. "What... do you mean?" he asked
