"Eer!"
"Huh, wha-ahhhh!" I scream and wake everyone up. everyone tries to grab a weapon. Kyle shoots it in the head.
"Brodie" I quietly sulk.
~~~~~~~~~~soon after~~~~~~~~~
"He was a good guy" Jonathan says
"He was cool" Matt adds
"He was good to talk to" Kyle puts in
"He was a great best-guy-friend" I say
"He was heaps funny" Brianna adds
"He was a good bloke" Shayla puts in
"He always had something dirty to say, haha" Emma criesSHAYLA'S POV
As I listen to all the good things being said about Brodie, I hear a moan. Another moan. Zombie. I walk out of the room, carrying a knife and a baseball bat with me. As I get down stairs, there are three zombies. A male and two females. I quietly lure the male over to me. when he smells the fresh blood on me he moans which attracts the other two zombies. I whack the male in the head with the baseball bat. chunks of flesh fly off of his head and land over near a dumpster. I jump up and stab him in the head, he drops, but the other two come closer. the blondie pushes me as she tries to take a claw at my torso. suddenly, I am unbalanced and fall over the steps. my leg is killing me! they both viciously run down the stairs and try to take a bite at my arm and leg. I push the blonde away and take a swing to the head of the brunette. her head slices open and she flops over to the side. the blonde zombie pounces on me and I stab her straight through the temple and her body lands on mine. I push her infected and decayed body off of mine and get up. my leg gives way and I fall straight back down. I haul myself back up and slowly hop up the stairs.
END OF SHAYLA'S POV
"Remember that time when-" Brianna's voice immediately stops when we hear slow, heavy footsteps along the stairs. I retrieve my knife from my belt and hold it up in a way that I would be able to use quickly if needed.
"Eer" We hear a moan.
"Ugh"
"Ahhhhh!" every single one of us scream as...Shayla comes in from around the corner?
"Shayla? but I thought you were right...here?" I realise that Shayla was not where she was before and that I had not realised that she had in fact left the room entirely!
"Surprise" she smirks
"Fuck! you could have told is it was you!" Brianna yells
"Yeah, we nearly had a heart-attack!" Emma shouts. Everyone just starts swearing.
"HEY!!" I scream and everyone turns and stares at me "We all know its her now so shut up!"
~~~~~~~late that night~~~~~~~
The icy air sends shivers up his spine.
"Hey" It's Shayla.
"Shouldn't you be sleeping?" Coen asks, as if he is lost in thoughts.
"Yeah, but I couldn't sleep"
"Hmm"
"What are you thinking about?"
"I don't know why, but the stars are shining really bright tonight"
"It's a sign we'll be okay"
He looks at her.
"Yeah" Coen places his hand on top o Shayla's, but no eye contact is made.
"It scares me" Shayla whispers
"What?"
"The zombies"
There is a hesitant pause.
"They scare me too" He looks at her and they're eyes meet. only three seconds is needed before they both lean in and kiss.
~~~~~~~shayla's POV~~~~~~~
It is soft and delicate. It's like holding a wishing flower and trying not to let any of the white, fluffy seeds fly away.
It is perfect. I don't want to let go. This has to last forever. We are in a completely different world with only me and him. It is beautiful.
*snap*
I hear a twig snap and just like that, it was over.
~~~~~~~end of shayla's POV~~~~~~
Coen holds the torch in his hand and pushes in the button at the end. light aluminates the dark foggy air.
"Oh shit!"
