"Hand me the tire over there" The farmer boy says

"Here" Kyle hands him the used, but in good condition, tire.

The boy drills it in place.

"That should do it" He breathes out a short puff of air as he rises up and turns to us.

"Yeah" Jonathan is red in the face and looks like he needs some rest.

I turn to Matt and he too is red all over. Sweat drips down his neck and onto his chest, drawing my eyes to the abs built into his stomach.

"Mmm" I accidentally moan.

"What was that?" The farmer asks

"O-oh, nothing. I'm just thinking about dinner"

"I'm getting hungry. Why don't we pack this up and head inside?"

"Aha" Kyle nods and they start to put everything away.

As I walk to the porch, I notice something in amongst the trees. Narrowing my eyes, I see it move in the farms direction. My eyes widen as I figure out what it is.

"Zombie!" I shout out to the boys, pointing to the walking corpse.

They drop what they had in their hands and reach for the guns. Aiming straight at it, Matt shoots it in, what I can make out, the chest. It falls to the ground, taking in the force of the flying bullet. It struggles for a moment, then finds it's feet and begins walking again. The girls inside plus Callan all come running out to see what's going on. All the shots are missing and I am urging them to get it. This time it is shot in the head and it falls to the ground. We wait for a moment to make sure it doesn't get back up and after a good 10 seconds we can see it isn't.

"Phew" The farm boy says as he places the gun back down.

"We havn't gotten one this close. There might be more so we should probably have someone keeping watch" the other farmer says

"I will" Coen raises his hand a little and everyone nods.

The taller farm boy passes a watch to Coen and says; "At nine you come in and get someone to take over. We will keep changing shifts"

"Yup" Coen tucks the watch in his pocket.

At the table everyone is silent. Is there nothing to talk about? I think to myself and continue eating. "This tastes good" Kyle makes conversation

"Thanks" Jackie says doubtfully

The silence continues for the rest of the night.

~Jackie's POV~

Light from the gaps between the curtains can barely be seen. Dark seeps it's way into the room as night falls. I look at the wardrobe and see shadows appearing.

"mmmm" The words seem to flow out of my nose due to the fact my mouth is sealed tight in fright.

"Huh?" Callan tilts his head up to meet my eyes.

"N-nothing"

He gives me a look of disbelief as he slowly crawls out of bed and sits on mine.

"Seriously. What's wrong?"

I hesitate before managing to splat out my weakness.

"I am afraid of the dark"

I wait for the tremble of laughter, only to receive a concerned expression.

"We can't put the light on. It draws attention"

"I know" My eyes roll across the room, searching for danger.

"What did you do last night?" he asks curiously

"I didn't sleep"

"What?! You need to sleep! I am so stupid! How could I not hear you last night?" he insults himself

"Can I ask you something?"

"Anything"

"Can you hold me until I fall asleep?"

He stares at me for a moment, then smiles.

"Of course"
