I used to think that one day I'd always find a love that lasted as long as I'd live, I'd also think that despite pain love reigned. Now, all that reigned was pain.
Tears fell from my eyes as my dining room became a meeting room. A meeting room for lawyers and my soon to be ex husband. We were the only people that knew of this divorce including Alex who was now watching Aiden for me.
"Mrs. Grayson, are you with us?" I nod then sniffle. "He wants shared custody, he can have it." I say as my voice cracked.
"In the matter of splitting assets, she's always free to stay here and-."
"I'm sorry but, I don't want anything that we built together. You can have all of it, I'd rather not be reminded of my failed marriage."
"Surely we had good times, do you wish to get rid of that too?"
"What do you care?" I lean over, my nose and eyes red from crying, my cheeks wet with tears. "You don't remember anything, all those memories bring are pain. Makes me feel like I've gone crazy loving someone who never loved me back."
"That's not true and you know it." I scoffed. "Yeah but, do you?" I roll my eyes and fold my arms, I wanted this to be over, I felt bitter and sad... hurt.
"Is there anything else we need to say or do in order for you to begin the process to draw the papers?" He looks away from me and at the lawyers. "No Mr. Grayson, that will be all." My chest hurt so bad I could clutch it but, I didn't want to show anymore weakness.
"Do you want to do anything besides cry?" I lay in Alex's embrace as she questions. "The love of my life is leaving me, what else do you think I would want to do?"
"I just want you to feel better GG, I don't like seeing you like this and I don't know what to do." She sighs and rest her head on mine. "Maybe you should call Mia, try to work things out."
"Alex it's almost been a week since she exploded on me and she's still ignoring me. Truth, the people I need the most are all leaving me. I don't think Mia is forgiving this time."
"I'm sorry, just know that when you need me I'll be here and I'll never leave." She squeezes reassuringly and I feel a little better. "Thank you."
"Are you going to tell him about the pregnancy now?" I shake my head. "After the divorce is settled. I don't want him to think he should stay because of that."
"That's just crazy talk, you should have told him the moment you found out, divorce or no divorce he still has a right to know, he's the dad."
"Alex, just stop. I have my reasons, accept that." The bedroom door opens and Alex's current girlfriend comes in. I sit up and Alex leaps off the bed, this is awkward.
"So this is why you're not answering you're phone?" She folds her arms and frowns. "I'm sorry baby, I left it charging in the living room." She walks over to her to hold her.
"Don't touch me." She holds up her hands stoping Alex. "Are you forgetting date night?" Alex sighs. "Damnit."
"You're in bed with your so called friend all snuggled up when you should be out with me! I thought you were dead or something."
"Baby I'm sorry but I wasn't snuggled up with her, if you look she's crying and I was being a friend." Her girlfriend rolls her eyes. "She's strictly dickly and not interested in me that way, I'm just trying to support a friend who's husband is divorcing her because of memory loss."
"Alex!" I yell standing immediately. "Nobody was supposed to know about that!"
"Arrrg! Sorry, you both are stressing me out."
