read from third person POV:

"You're acting like a girl, Teddy. Just do it!" Chris said. The boys were huddled around the pay phone. Teddy has 2 quarters in his hand reading to pay for the phone call. Teddy was in a well thought out plan to ask out Maggie Baker. But, her.... not-so-friendly attitude would make anyone nervous.

"You just shut it, Chris. You couldn't do it either! It's not that easy." Teddy said finally giving in and placing the phone to his ear. He had spent hours finding Maggie Bakers parents' number in the phone book. And now he finally had his hands on it. The phone rang, and everytime it made that brrrrring sound suspense rose.

"Hello?" Maggie's voice sounded a bit annoyed. Teddy was relived she had picked up instead of her mother or father for that matter.

"Hey, it's Teddy. Teddy DuChamp?" Teddy begged the universe to somehow trigger a remembrance in Maggie's mind.

"Oh, the troubled kid, right?" Maggie decided to joke with him. It was just one of her many perks.

"What?! I ain't troubled! What you on about?" Teddy defended himself quickly, the boys laughed from behind him.

"Jesus Christ, Teddy. I was just joking. Calm the hell down." Maggie rolled her eyes. Teddy cleared his throat, obviously making note that she was in fact a tough cookie to crack.

"Anyways, Maggie. I was wondering if you'd maybe want to catch a movie sometime?" Teddy spit them words out quickly as possible.

"Maybe.... one one condition." Maggie said. Teddy waited in silence for her to respond, "you've gotta make it the best date ever."

"What? Who said it was a date." Teddy nervously denied the fact that he was asking her out as anything for that a friend.

"Oh, shut up. You know it's a date, Teddy. I'll be ready tomorrow at 6. Okay?" She made it short and sweet. Teddy felt his cheeks get hot as he stupidly nodded as if she could see him.

"Yeah. Yeah, okay. Sure." Teddy said feeling a loss for air. He didn't reject him.... was he dreaming?

"Bye, Teddy." Maggie hung up the phone. Teddy would've fainted if Gordie hadn't caught him mid fall. There's no way this was happening.

"Look, you did it!" Vern sweetly said with a smile. Teddy walked a little taller that day, patiently waiting for tomorrow at 6 when he'd go out on an actual date with Maggie Baker.
