"Ugh, I'm so happy to be out of that place." Brad said as we finally left last period at school. I looked at him with an agreeing look and sighed heavily.
"You can say that again. Math is useless." I said with complete exhaustion from my dad at school. Me and Brad turned the corner, beginning to walk away from the school property and to our homes. We didn't live to far away from each other, thankfully.
"You got that right," he laughed, "so are you going to the dance next Friday?" I shrugged at the question. So many people were talking about this dance but I didn't find much joy in them. Especially because I don't know how to dance.
The only catch was some boy asked me. From what I've heard he's got quite the reputation and I'd be a weirdo to turn him down.
"I don't know," I lamely answered, "Christopher Brooks (I don't know I just made up a name lmao) asked me."
"Don't go with him." Brad said pretty quickly after I got my sentence out. I gave him a confused looked and laughed a bit.
"Why not?" I asked.
"Just don't... it's probably a prank or something." He defended very quickly.
"So I can't get a date to the dance without it being a prank? Am I not pretty enough or—"
"No! God, no! I didn't mean it like that." He said cringing at himself for what he just said.
"Then what do you mean?" I crossed my arms.
"I mean... he's a jerk. And- and I just don't like the idea of you going to the dance with him." I scoffed at his entitlement and rolled my eyes.
"Well, not to sound mean but I don't really care what you like."
"No! Jesus, I don't know how to talk. I didn't mean that... I meant- I meant like—" he looked down to the ground and groaned.
"I like you, Y/N! I want to take you to the dance and I didn't want you to go with Christopher okay?" He spit it out with a nervous look upon his face. My heart just swell at his awkwardness.
"Really?" I asked becoming quite awkward and shy.
"Yes, and I know it sound stupid but—"
"Yes! I'll go with you, Brad. And I like you a lot too."
