Grace's POV

It's finally Friday, which means it's our unit test that Beau and I have been preparing for. I've been helping him for a few days, nothing major but I know he's smart enough to get an A, I know it. I pack my bag ready for school as I see grandma sitting in the small rocking chair, she's sitting at the barn door with it slightly open watching the blue jays.

"They're chirping this morning" I speak behind her as she smiles at them. She and my grandfather used to sit on the porch at the retirement facility and watch them together, I think that's all she can really have to remember him.

"Grace, come her sweetie" she tells me as I come around in front of her. She brushes my hair and braids it back for me before she kisses the back of my head. I go to stand up but she stops me.

"I have something for you" she tells me as I look back at her. She opens the front of her shirt pocket as she hands me a necklace. A beautiful gold necklace with a blue pendant and small diamonds around it. Where did she hide this? How long has she had this?

"Grandma what is this?" I ask taking it from her as she places it in my hand. "Your grandfather bought me that necklace when we started seeing each other. It's probably not worth much now, but I can't wear it anymore, and you can. I want you to have it sweetie. Just promise me you won't sell it. I'd rather be homeless than get rid of the last part of him I have." she tells me wiping a few tears from her eyes as I nod. I reach for her and hug her as she rubs my back.

"Turn around" she tells me placing it around my neck and opening the clasp to hold it together there. I rub it as she smiles when she sees it. It's beautiful and I'll never end up taking it off. It's something to remember him by, and something I know she cherishes. Just thinking about her passing away, and her leaving me makes me want to cry. I know she's the only support system I have and I love her with everything in me.

"Thank you grandma, I love you" I tell her kissing her cheek as she smiles. "I love you too sweetie. Have a great day at school, I'll see you for dinner. Are you tutoring tonight?" she asks as I shake my head no. Beau has a football game, so tomorrow I'll be going over to help him in the morning.

"Not today, he's got a football game" I tell her as she nods. "Football? He's a football player?" she asks as I nod.

"I bet he's muscular, cute even" she tells me as I blush instantly. "Ohh he is, I'd like to meet him one day." she tells me as I smile.

"Negative on that one, he's dating the head cheerleader, but he's the one who gave me the dresses, the shoes, and the food. He's helped me out and I thanked him, but I'm just his tutor. His family is loaded and the opposite of me. Felicity his girlfriend, she's a piece of work grandma, she's rude and she thinks I'm after Beau when I'm not." I tell her as she rubs my hand.
