As me, Thorin, and Bilbo walked into the room, everyone looked at us.
"What is it?" My eyes scanned the room.
Balin sighed. "We need the Arkenstone."
"Woah Woah Woah. You're talking about the very thing that drove him mad?! Why on earth do we.." I looked at them while pointing at Thorin. He grabbed my hand and I looked at him. Thorin nodded at me to let me know it's fine. "Where is it?"
"In Mirkwood.."
I cut Gandalf off. "So with Thranduil? Great."
Gandalf responded annoyed that I kept cutting him off and getting upset. "Yes. Which is why I got our burglar." He gestured for us to come over to the table and he pulled out a map and placed it down. "Once we get into Mirkwood and near the home of the Woodland Elves, Thorin and Nex will go in. Thorin will get the Arkenstone in exchange for Nex."
"Wait so what will Bilbo be stealing?" I chuckled when responding. Everyone looked at me. "Wait." I looked at Thorin, Bilbo, Gandalf, and everyone else. "You seriously can't mean me."
"So what's the plan?" Balin asked.
"Bilbo." Thorin looked at him.
"What?"
"Do you remember how you got in to get us out?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Because Thranduil will most likely put her in a cell after I get the Arkenstone."
"Wait, so now you're doing the EXACT SAME TRADE that you refused before?" I looked at Thorin. "What the hell are we suppose to do after we get the stone?"
Gandalf looked at me. "Take it to the dragons of the North."
My eyes went wide. "What? Why take it to them?"
"There is a war coming. Sauron The Dark Lord himself is after you and he will send all of the forces he can gather." Gandalf said while walking towards me.
"And because I'm a dragon lord then they'll what? Protect me? Those beasts are as IF NOT more stubborn than Dwarves! And also not to mention they too, are greedy as hell. They won't do shite unless they get something in return!"
"I understand you're upset but there's nothing else we could do."
I wasn't just upset. Confusion and being scared also filled me. My breathing was scattered and I was trying not to break. As soon as I felt a tear start going down my face, I burst out of the room and headed to mine. "Nex!" Thorin yelled. I ignored him and I heard him following me.
Once I entered my room I paced for a second and then turned and punched the wall, completely forgetting it's made of stone. "AH!" I started screaming from all the emotions and the pain of my hand. I collapsed to the floor and started breaking.
I heard Thorin come in and he rushed over. He got down and pulled me into a hug. I was crying so much I could feel the tears soak his tunic.
"thorin im scared."
He pulled me from him. "I won't let anything happen I promise."
"but what if something does happen." My eyes met his and my vision was very blurry. He only looked like a faint apparition.
"I promise you. Nothing will happen. I won't let it." A pain shot in my hand and I winced. Thorin looked down at it. "What happened?"
"i punched the wall."
"Is it broken?" He gently grabbed my hand and looked at it.
"surprisingly no. but i did hit it hard enough to not be able to move it." He sighed in frustration. I knew partially what he was thinking. "there's extra wrap in the closest."
Thorin helped me off the floor and I sat on my bed as he grabbed the wrap out of my closest. He sat next to me and he grabbed my hand and started wrapping it.
"what are we doing?" I said while looking at the wall.
"I believe what Gandalf said was that we were going to get the Arkenstone and..."
I cut him off. "thorin. that's not what i mean." He looked at me confused. "what i mean is. what are we doing?
"I'm not quite sure I'm understanding."
I sighed. "yeah, that was a bad way to start this um. what im trying to say is. i don't think we should continue forward and just be friends."
He nodded. "You think we shouldn't or you feel as though we can't?"
"both." I glanced at him.
"And why is that?" The way his voice sounded wasn't normal to me but I knew he wasn't mad.
"well. for one, you're a king. you rule over the most powerful kingdom in all of middle earth. you don't need someone like me around. and where i'm a ranger, i'm used to being on the road and traveling. i can't stay in one place for too long so i'll just end up leaving."
Thorin chuckled. "I've already figured that. But what is it you're not telling me? I know it has to do with you being overwhelmed by everything that's going on."
"yeah, i'm overwhelmed by everything but it's also because i'm scared i'm going to lose everyone. other than Elrond, i never really had a family. and ya'll are my family now." I looked at him trying not to cry again.
"Do you trust me?" Thorin looked at me and laid his hand on mine.
My eyes started hurting. I closed them and took a breath to calm down before answering. "i did until i found out we needed the Arkenstone."
Thorin took his hand away and looked at the wall. His jaw clenched a bit and then he spoke. "We need to get prepared to leave." Thorin got up and walked out.
