Finally. Today is the day I've been waiting for. Today was the day I was training to be a runner. Being a runner was the only job here so far that actually interested me. I was quite good at running as well. It took a while for the boys to catch up to me the first day I was here when I tried escaping the glade. I could tell Minho was excited to train me as well because he woke me up with a smile on his face.

"Rise and shine, Greenie," Minho said, nudging me in the ribcage with his elbow as we laid on his bed.

Though I wanted to be a runner, I did not want to be a morning person. I guess I would just have to get used to it.

I turned over and let out a groan. "It's too early," I said rolling over to face Minho.

"Get up, Eve. Come on, today you get to train as a runner. It's going to be fun. Just get up," he said pulling the sheets off of me. I shivered because of the cold.

The glade didn't exactly have seasons, but it did have quite the temperature changes some days. Today was one of those days. It was cold and the sun still hadn't rose.

I let out a sigh and got up, stumbling onto my feet as I tried to regain my balance.

It was probably around 4am and sleep glazed over my eyes, causing them to be blurry. I quickly pulled off my shirt and shorts, and put on some clean ones for the day ahead.

I did so, not realizing that Minho still stood in the doorway, staring at me. I tried to play it off as if I didn't care that he say me half naked, changing, but a bit off blush flooded my cheeks.

"What?" I say, walking out the door.

Minho stood there for a second but then replied, "mmm-nothing." He then followed me out into the glade.

"So," Minho started, "we'll get some breakfast and then start your training." I looked at him a bit awkwardly, remembering his facial expression right before we left his hut. We sat down at our picnic table. The only noise in the glade was the crickets chirping and the clanking of Frypan's dishes and pots.

"Fry is still cooking breakfast, so we have a few minutes to spare," Minho said, looking up at me.

"I'm sorry about this morning," I say awkwardly. "I didn't know you were still in the room." I blush once more, looking down at the table as I do so.

"It's fine," he says with a chuckle, "made my day." He smiled. I rolled my eyes and continued staring at the table.

"I'm not really that hungry actually, Minho. I think I'm gonna skip breakfast," I say, looking back up at him. He looks at me concerned.

"But you didn't eat last night. How are you not hungry?" He asked, honestly confused. Minho had always been oblivious. I shrugged as Minho got up and brought back one bowl of food. He started to eat. "You sure you're not hungry?" He asks a final time. I shake my head no, and he finishes up his food before we start my training.

I'm glad to have a friends like Newt and Minho. They made the glade seem like less of a hell hole, and more of a home. I still didn't like the fact that this was my new home. But for now I guess it's just temporary. Or so I thought. I don't know. Some of these guys have been here for around two years. Would I have to spend the rest of my life as a glader? Or would we somehow find an escape?

After Minho was finally finished with his breakfast, we headed for the open glade, which was just a long field of grass at the center of the glade. By now, the sun had come up and the rest of the gladers were enjoying their breakfast. I saw Newt at our picnic table alone and I waved. He waved back, giving me a friendly smile. Then I turned to face Minho.
