(A/N: sorry I haven't written in a few weeks, I have been finishing up finals for some classes that I'm taking. I will be resuming this book and get back on my regular schedule of putting out at least two chapters per week. Love you all!"

Running into the what my father called "the Scorch," we bit back the sand that flew into our faces because of the harsh wind, pressing its toll up against us as we paraded through the desert.

"Where exactly are we going, Thomas?!" Jeff shouts, out of breath.

"There!" Thomas points to what looks like some kind of underground bunker. He starts running towards it and none of us protest. We all follow him like lost puppies, seeking shelter.

We get inside and it looks kind of like an abandoned parking garage. How do I even remember what that is? Are my memories coming back to me somehow?

We travel further and further into the structure. "It looks like someone used to live here," Minho notices.

And he's right. There were a bunch of random supplies lying around, and blankets, as well as children's toys.

"Creepy," I say, noticing a stain of blood on the floor. "Something bad happened here."

"Let's split up and look for supplies. Keep an eye out for anything dangerous, we still don't know what to expect out here," Thomas announces.

Minho goes with Thomas, Nova goes with Ren, Jeff goes with Clint, etc. I look over to Newt and tug his arm, motioning for him to come with me.

We walk into a room that is full of clothing and small items such as jewelry and small children's toys. Newt and I both walk around and look at the items.

"This would look good on you," Newt says as he holds up a silver necklace with a small heart attached with the words Me and You ingraved in it.

"Yeah, it probably would but I would feel bad for taking someone else's things."

Newt walk towards me with the necklace in hand and unzips it, then puts it on me.

"Well, they're not going to use it and there's no use in it just lying here, collecting dust," Newt explains.

"Good point," I say looking back up at Newt, who is only about a foot infront of me, staring into my eyes.

"Can I kiss you?" he says, pushing my hair out of my face, and tucking it behind my ears.

"Do you even have to ask?" I say leaning in. Our lips meet and it was gentle at first but a few seconds later, it became more harsh, and full with lust.

Newt kisses me harder and I kiss him back harder as well, returning the gesture.

Newt lifts me up and onto a table behind me. His hands run down the sides of my legs as he takes off his coat and throws it on the floor.

I shift in the kiss, a bit uncomfortable with what he might intend or want to do, too embarrassed to tell him. His hands begin to roam my body just as we I hear a voice in my head. Thomas's voice.

Run, Eve! Get out of here!

I quickly pull away from the kiss and hop down to the ground, picking up Newt's coat from the floor and handing it to him.

He looks rather awkward for a moment and his face looks like it's full of embarrassment and regret.

A light in the background flickers for a second but then shuts off.

"Did I do something wrong? I'm sorry," he says, rubbing the back of his neck and putting the coat on.

"No, Newt, you didn't. Trust me. I heard Thomas talking to me, we have to leave now. Something isn't right," I say grabbing Newt's hand and pulling him out of the room.

Just as we both get out of the room, Thomas, Minho, and the rest of the gladers run by us shouting "Run!" in unison.

Newt and I quickly follow suit and begin chasing after them. We both look back for a brief second to see what looks like a bunch of zombie like humans chasing after us.

We all run as fast as we can to get out of the building. These infected people were very fast however and were catching up to us.

We all ran our way threw a very narrow hallway, all Minho used the gun to shoot as many of them as he could.

After two rounds, the gun ran out of amo and Minho tossed it at them and ran.

Everyone besides Newt and I had made it out the door. I quickly run out and let out an exasperated breath, tired from all of the running.

I look back behind me to see one of the creatures grab Newt's leg, which causes him to fall.

I quickly run back to him and take a block of cement from off of the concrete floor and hit the creature with it as hard as I can, knocking it to the ground. It finally lets go of Newt.

I help him up and we shut close the door and put a stack of bricks infront of it to hold them off for a few minutes.

We all ran out to the outter layer of the building thay was touching the scorch. We hid in this small pocket in between a thin concrete wall that wrapped around the space, creating a place to be out of the creatures view.

Everyone curled up there and waited patiently for daylight to come. Some of the guys have fallen asleep.

There wasn't much room in this space and all of us were pretty much touching one another when we were sitting down and it was very crowded.

The floor was very uncomfortable and Newt seemed, still, pretty shaken up about the whole ordeal we just experienced.

I got up from where I was sitting and sat in his lap, the back of my head to his chest.

He wrapped his arms around mine and intertwined our fingers together. I lay back against him and slowly fall asleep in his arms.
