I awoke to the smell of bacon that filled the morning air. It was only about five or six in the morning, yet the sun had already risen and the crickets were chirping.

I sat up in my bed and noticed that Newt was no longer beside me. Weird. Newt doesn't normally get up this early.

I head out of our hut and go to our usual picnic table. I sit down to see Newt and Thomas laughing about something in the distance.

I continue to stare at them, wondering what is so funny, when Thomas meets my gaze and starts walking over to our table.

He and Newt both sit down and try to catch their breath from all of the laughing they had been doing.

"What's so funny?" I ask with a smile.

"Oh, nothing," Newt shakes off, though it was clearly something. Probably something to do with me since he wouldn't tell me. I nod in response and continue to wait as Fry finished up cooking our breakfast.

"Morning, Eve," I hear a voice behind me say. Nova. I look over to her a smile.

"Morning, Nova. Sleep well?" I ask as the boys start giggling again, trying to contain their laughter. I ignored them as Nova sat down next to me, also ignoring Thomas and Newt.

"Yeah, I guess. It's pretty cozy in that hut. Also, I was uhh-wondering if I could borrow some erm-monthly things?" Nova asks awkwardly as she tries to not let the boys know what she was referring to.

"Oh yeah, I have an extra box of them that you can have. Do you need them now or can you wait until after breakfast?" I ask feeling a bit sorry for the girl. It was only her second day here and she had to deal with all of these boys and the heat, and on top of all of that, her period. Which meant cramps, moodiness, etc.

"Now would be better."

"Okay, follow me," I say as we both get up and walk to my hut.

"Hey, Eve, thanks for being so nice to me," Nova says in a sweet voice.

"No problem. It's really nice having another girl around," I say, honestly.

"Oh yeah, I forgot that you were the first girl here. That must have been rough, with the hormonal teenage boys and all," she admits as we continue walking.

"You have no idea," I say with a chuckle. "But on the bright side, most of the boys are very nice and I've grown close with them. They're like my family, and I guess now you are too. Welcome to the glade, Nova," I explain as I wrap her in a side hug.

"Thanks."

Once we reached my hut I opened the door and we stepped inside. "Sorry it's a bit of a mess. Hard to keep anything clean when there is a boy around," I say with a small laugh.

"You live with one of the other gladers?" Nova questioned, intrigued.

"Yeah, I first lived with Minho but then our hut collapsed so I moved in with Newt," I explain as she takes a set at the edge of the bed.

"So are you Newt like a thing then?" She asks sounding a little upset. Does she like Newt or something?

"No, he confessed that he liked me but I told him that it was better for us to just stay friends and he agreed," I admit, casually. Nova nods.

"Anyway, here's the box," I say handing it to her.

"Thanks again," Novas says before leaving the hut.

"No problem," I reply with a friendly smile.
