I woke up to the sound of my alarm ringing. I reached my hand out and grabbed it off the bedside table, fumbling to shut that god awful noise off. I jumped a little when I felt JJ stir beside me, the memories of last night finally came back. "Hey, JJ?" I whispered softy watching as JJs eyes fluttered open, still a bit red and swollen from the night before. Even with that she looked so beautiful. "Yeah Em?" she mumbled. "Well, it's noon, I think it's time we get up and grab something to eat?" JJ stretched, letting out a high-pitched yawn "Sounds like a plan." JJ followed my lead and got out of bed, walking past me to the bathroom "I look like I've been hit by a bus." I heard her shout out. I laughed a little at her comment "Uh JJ I don't have my go bag... Can I borrow some clothes?" I heard her shut off the sink and walk out leaning against the door "Actually I may have quite a collection of your clothes from our many sleepovers lifetimes ago," she said pointing towards the bottom dresser drawer. I smiled "Oh so I'M the sentimental one? How long has it been since I've slept here JJ?" I said taking a stab at her apartment comment yesterday "Oh Emily you know I'm awful at letting things go! But come on, they're good clothes!" She teased back mimicking my voice.
Rummaging through drawer I noticed she had quite a collection of my clothes "Wait, I've been looking for this!" I yelled pulling out a black sweater and holding it in front of me. JJ turned, raising an eyebrow looking at the sweater "Are you sure that's even yours? Doesn't look... Gloomy enough." I rolled my eyes "Very funny JJ. I'm sorry I prefer my outside to look like my insides feel" JJ shot a concerned look my way "Emily..." I opened my mouth the say something, but she cut me off "That was the most emo thing I've ever heard" Both of us broke out in a laugh so hard tears started rolling down my cheeks "Okay, okay. Let's get dressed. Believe it or not I've got some things to do today!" JJ rolled her eyes and turned back to the closet picking out her clothes for the day. I finally settled on black jeans with the sweater I missed so much and began changing. My heart fluttered when I thought JJ was stealing glances, I quickly shot my thoughts down "Emily you've changed in front of JJ a hundred times and this time is no different." I finished getting dressed and turned around studying JJ, who had changed into a loose-fitting T shirt and a pair of jean shorts "we really are totally opposites" I thought. "Heads up!" She yelled throwing a pair of socks towards me. I flinched away as the socks hit me square in the chest. I dramatically fell over yelling "Agent down!" We worked ourselves into a fit of laughter once again. JJ and I were as serious as we could possibly be when working cases, people's lives depended on it. But when it was just us there was hardly a moment where we weren't cracking jokes and pulling pranks. JJ let out a sight "It's good to have you back Emily."
JJ and I piled into my rental car "Wow this is nice!" JJ said glancing at the interior "Ha yeah. Too bad it's a rental." We finally decided to hit up a drive thru, ordering some cheap food and half decent coffees before heading towards my old apartment. "Are you sure you don't have any plans today? You've been checking your phone every five minutes." I asked "No, I don't have any plans... It's Will. He still hasn't gotten back to me." I gritted my teeth hearing that man's name once again "JJ I'm sure he'll get back to you soon, just give it time." I said trying to be comforting, half hoping it wasn't true. "So... How's Henry?" I saw JJ's face light up a little as I successfully changed the subject "He's great. Loves spending time with my mom, and thankfully she loves spending time with him too. She sent me the cutest photo of him playing with his cousins earlier! Here look!" She said shoving the phone in my face "Woooah JJ I'm driving!" I laughed stealing a glance down at a photo of the blonde boy going down a slide with his cousin following closely behind in what I assume was JJ's mom's backyard. "He really is adorable JJ." JJ smiled and let out a soft thanks before sitting back in the seat and getting comfortable for the rest of the drive.
We pulled into the parking garage and I found my way to my assigned parking spot "Alright were here." JJ got out of the car and glanced around the garage "So why did you keep the apartment Em? It's got to be a huge chunk of change every month, and it just sits empty?" She asked. I made my way towards the elevator "Oh I don't rent it. I bought it outright." I said casually and turned when I heard JJ stop following me "Really?" She laughed "Forgive me I forgot you were the daughter of an Ambassador" "Oh don't start JJ I swear this isn't mommy's money!" I joked back. "That didn't answer my question though. You own it, cool. But you could always sell it and take a lavish vacation. Do you even own a place in London?" I motioned her to follow me to the elevators and made our way inside before answering "Uh, no I don't. But I don't want to. My life isn't in London." I could tell JJ was confused "I mean yeah I work there, but I don't plan on staying. I miss working in Quantico and for whatever reason holding onto this apartment gives me hope I'll be back one day." JJ nodded "Well, hopefully you'll be here full time soon enough. I know I've said it a lot, but we really do miss you here Emily." The elevator finally reached my floor and I stepped out leading JJ to my front door. I scrambled through my purse looking for the keys. I finally wrapped my fingers around them pulling them out and inserting the key into the door.
I walked into the apartment JJ following closely behind me. "How come we never had a girl's night here! This is beautiful!" JJ shouted with excitement looking around the apartment "Precisely JJ, it's beautiful. And I'd like to keep it that way. I know how you and Garcia like to get messy drunk!" I teased poking at her sides "Wow that was harsh!" JJ laughed slapping my hands away "So why are we here exactly?" she asked. I made my way into the living room picking up the mail that was on the coffee table "Oh I just like to check on the place whenever I'm in town..." I said causally flipping through the enormous amounts of junk mail "I have a housekeeper who comes by once a week to check the mail and make sure the place isn't falling apart." I trailed off as I flipped to a pink envelope in the stack and smiled. JJ looked over at me when I stopped talking, noticing my smile "Oooh what's that Prentiss?" She said quickly running over to me and pulling the envelope from my hands holding it above her head "It's nothing JJ!" She laughed waving it around "If it was nothing you wouldn't be so desperate to have it back!" "JJ you know opening other people's mail is a federal crime" I threatened "What are you gonna do? Arrest me?" The younger agent teased handing the mail back to me "But seriously Em? You got a secret boyfriend I don't know about?" My heart dropped "Not exactly."
