Weeks passed and I pulled into the BAU bright and early on Monday morning. Coffee in one hand and a stack of case files in another. Spencer caught me on the way to my office "Hey Emily can we talk?" He asked matching pace with me "Sure? Is everything okay?" I asked a little suspicious. "Uh yeah everything's okay. It's about JJ." Okay, now I was worried. I motioned him to join me in the office, offering him the seat in front of my desk. "So, what's up?" I set the files down and took the seat across from him. "It's just that... I've noticed you guys have been spending a lot of time together." Panic set in "She seems happy... You both do, and I'm not here to judge or make something out of nothing but whatever you guys are doing... I'm happy for you." I smiled gave him a understanding nod "Thanks Reid, but can you keep this between us, please?" Spencer smiled and stood up "Of course. I'm glad you guys have each other." We both looked over as a knock came from the door and Garcia stuck her head in "Hope I'm not interrupting, we have a case."
Police in Washington found a burial site not far from the local college containing two girls, ages 19 and 21. Each abducted and killed within 24 to 48 hours, about a week apart. A third girl went missing less than 5 hours ago which is what lead them to request our help. The team began speculating on the unsubs motive "All we know is we have two dead girls and one missing, wheels up in 10."
We went over the case file more in-depth on the plane. "Go ahead Garcia." I said as her came up on the monitor. "So, I was digging into these girls past as one does and I made a connection. All three of them attend the same college as we'll as two of them posting about the same club on social media." "What club?" Reid asked. Garcia began to type furiously on her keyboard "Oh. It seems they were attending a club called 'campus pride' " My eyes shot up from the file in my hand "So we can't rule out hate crime." Rossi stated, "It's estimated at least 20% of women experiment with same-sex relationships, that number is quickly rising as the world becomes more accepting." Reid added. "Well, whatever it is we need to put a stop to it. Luke and JJ go the station and set up with the local PD. Reid, Rossi, go check on the autopsy reports while Tara, you'll join me at the college. I want to know everyone who's had contact with these girls." "There's a club meeting tonight at 7. If you hurry you might make it." Garcia responded "Thanks PG. Everyone get some rest. We're going to be racing against the clock to try and find this most recent victim safe."
Shortly after landing Tara and I were on our way over to the college. Pulling into the parking lot we were greeted by the schools dean who showed us to the room where the meeting was being held. "So, what's the plan?" Tara asked. I sighed "We need to figure out if the girls frequent this group. If not, we need to know if these girls hung out together outside of school." Tara nodded and we walked in. The silence in the room was deafening "If I could have your attention... This is SSA Lewis and Prentiss from the FBI." The dean spoke, everyone's attention turning to us "Firstly I want to apologize for the loss of your club members. We're just here to ask a few questions and we'll be on our way." "You think the murderer is one of us??" A girl accused standing up from her chair "No. no. We're just wanting to know what Sarah, Ellie and Taylor were like. Who they hung out with, where they hung out. If we can make a connection outside of this group, we may be able to track down the person doing this a bit more quickly." Tara said trying to level out the girls' emotions. Tara held up photos of the girls and began asking questions "I don't recognize Taylor. She's never been to a club meeting." Said a boy towards the back. "Are you sure about that?" I asked. He nodded and I made eye contact with Tara before stepping outside.
"You've reached Penelope Garcia in the FBI's office of supreme genius" "Hey PG the members here don't recognize our missing victim, Taylor. I need you to see if you can dig up anything where the three of them would've crossed paths." I heard Garcia start typing "You're lucky digging up information is my specialty." "Thanks PG you're awesome" "You only say that because it's true. PG out." With the click of the phone, I looked up seeing Tara walking out of the building "Sarah and Ellie were well liked, kind girls. They didn't hang out with the bad crowd, got good grades and volunteered with the club's activities when they could." "Nothing more about Taylor?" I asked. Tara shook her head "They've seen her around campus, but if she did come to the club no one paid much attention." "Okay. Let's regroup with the rest of the team and see if they have any more information."
