Chapter 24 | Mistake

Waking up from the sunlight peeking through jean's sliding door from his balcony. I see jean laying on the floor asleep, "shit I must have fallen asleep" slowly getting up I place the blanket that jean must of gave me, on him.  I feel bad for leaving Sasha on our first day of being roomies. hoping she's not up yet I can make her breakfast, about to walk to jean's door, it opens, it's Eren. he walks in and we make eye contact it looks like he has a confused look on his face.

"y/n? Why are you in jean's apartment"

Um, I fell asleep on his couch by mistake.

By mistake? Why were you here in the first place?

"I needed to fix his eye" Pointing at the first aid kit on jean's coffee table.

Ahuh Just like you fixed his shoulder.

What's that supposed to mean? I ask.

Hey Eren, what's going on? Jean says waking up.

Nothing, I'm gonna head out I'll catch up with you later. Eren says walking out of jean's apartment.

Did I say something wrong? I think to myself. "Hey, jean I'm gonna go make Sasha breakfast before work I'll see you later.

See you, Jean says.

Walking into our apartment, Sasha seems to be still sleeping. So I start making her breakfast.

                                                         ~fast forward~

After I got done making breakfast Sasha woke up from the smell of food, she thanked me over 10 times. I quickly got ready for work and went to midnights to start my shift.

It was a pretty normal day just like always, same old customers, and a few new ones. The only thing different was how I felt. I really wanna go apologize to Eren. and just ask to start over but then I wanna keep my distance, so he won't have to push me away. Maybe if he comes by to walk me home I can talk to him. 

It's closing time now and Eren never showed up. I guess I have to go to him, walking back home I stop by his door and knock.

y/n what a pleasant surprise what brings you here, Armin says with a smile on his face.

Hi, Armin I just wanted to know if Eren was here.

He's in the shower but you're more than welcome to wait for him inside.

No thank you, can you just tell him I stopped by and I need to talk to him.

You can tell him yourself come on in there's someone I want you to meet, please.

Armin grabbing my hand he brings me inside "y/n this is Annie, my girlfriend".

Well if it isn't Annie Leonhart, I say with shock since I haven't seen her in years.

l/n wow, that's a face I'd haven't seen in a long time.

Do you guys know each other? Armin asks.

Yeah back then we were interpretable. Annie says.

That's right then one day we just split.

This is a story I'd love to hear. But since your waiting for Eren you can tell me another time. If you'd like you can enter his room, he wouldn't mind. The door should be open.

Thank you, it was nice seeing you Annie we should catch up soon.

Definitely, she says. 

Walking in the hallway I see a door wide open, with a strong scent of vanilla and mint coming from it. This has to be Eren's room.

Walking in his room, his bed wasn't made and there was a bunch of clothes and empty water bottles on the floor. his room was a bit messy, and the inner Levi in me wanted to clean it. But that's not what I came here for. seeing he has a desk chair in his room, I take off some of the clothing that was on it and sit down to wait for Eren. my eyes seemed to wander around the room. there wasn't much to it besides the bed and the desk he has. looking at his desk there seem to be letters on it. I wonder from who? Taking a closer look there was one open. The other unopened envelopes were covering half the latter, the only thing I could have read was,

"Get back to me soon -Z"

Z? Who's z, I ask myself. 

y/n? Why are you in here?

Eren! Taking my eyes off the letter I turn my head to Eren to see him standing in the doorway with just a towel around his hips, his hair was down, and there was still water dripping off him. "Wow," I say under my breath.

You didn't answer my question?

Oh yeah, I wanted to talk to you.

Well, go on. he says dropping his dirty clothes on the floor. 

Walking closer to Eren, "I just wanna start off by apologizing. I didn't mean to push you away like that or if I even hurt your feeling, and I know I apologize too much, but I really am sorry, and whatever you said to me to hurt my feeling, I forgive you. And I just wanna start over".

"y/n this was a mistake".

I'm sorry? What was, hearing those words made me feel a shock through my body. 

Whatever I started with you, I shouldn't of. It was wrong of me and putting myself in-between whatever you and jean had was also wrong of me, and I just don't think that we will work out, it's best if we just avoid each other.

"Oh, yeah that's fine, I guess, bye Eren". walking past Eren out his doorway, I make myself out of their apartment, after saying bye to Annie and Armin.

I started to breathe heavy, from feeling hurt inside, I wasn't sure why I was hurt when I knew it was for the best. But was it?

Walking back into my apartment, niccoles in the kitchen cooking a late dinner and Sasha is setting up the table "Hi, y/n are you gonna join us?"

No thank you, I'm not hungry go ahead and enjoy yourselves tho, I'll be in my room.

Are you sure? We won't mind? Niccole asks.

I'm sure, I say, walking into my room. I lay face down on my pillow and my tears are just falling. "this was a mistake" keeps playing over and over in my head. Is this him just trying to push me away, or does he actually mean it. 

Hearing a knock at my door, I get up to see who it is. 

"I brought you some food." niccole says holding a plate of food. "Please eat" I hear Sasha say from the front room.

Taking the plate of food, I thank niccole, as he leaves my door.

Sitting back on my bed, I start eating what niccole made. A couple of minutes go by and I'm still sitting on my bed. I have work tomorrow but I wanna call in sick, and avoid any human contact. Levi would tell Erwin tho and I don't wanna worry him so I'll just take it one day at a time.
