Chapter 31 | Gum Wrapper

"fuck" I said looking at the dark empty doorway. "Did he look upset"? I ask.

"A little," jean said behind me.

How could he be upset, he did the same thing to me?

It's Eren we're talking about y/n.

you know what, I need to change into regular clothes and fix this, grabbing a change of clothes I go into the bathroom and change after I was done I took off my makeup. Walking out jean was still in my room sitting on my bed. "You know you don't have to stay," I tell him.

"But I want to, Now, what exactly are you fixing".

You know what jean I don't know, Eren confuses me I don't know what he wants or who he wants.

"well What do you want" 

For Eren to see me more than just a "coffee girl" or at least see something in me. who knows maybe he's right I don't even see anything in myself. 

Come here, jean took my hand and led me out of my apartment and into his "sit" he pointed at his chair. taking a seat jean went into the back. He quickly came back holding a box "this is what I wanted to show you".

A box? I say. 

No, not the box it's self what's in the box he sat down next to me and opened the box.

"It looks like random stuff, I don't get it?"

"You think it's random stuff but, what's this", he held up a foil gum wrapper.

"Um, a gum wrapper?" I say. 

Well yes, but this is the gum wrapper that you gave me when I first met you in the hallway it was late at night and you just came home and I was leaving and I asked you-

"If I'm new here. I remember now, and we talked and I gave you gum to welcome me as your new neighbor".

"Yes, now what's this", he held up an old menu from midnights.

"It's a menu from midnights?"

Yeah, the menu you gave me when you first got your job there. and this is a soda cap from the soda you gave me from when I first got locked out of my apartment. The whole point of this y/n is that I kept all this stuff because I saw something in you. Eren might not see it just yet but I do. So don't think your just a "coffee girl" because you're much more.

I wrapped my arms around jeans neck and hugged him. I felt his arms wrap around my back "I think you should talk to Eren". I heard jean say. 

"Right now?" Pulling away from the hug I face jean.

Whenever Maybe tomorrow. he said. 

"Yeah, tomorrow, I'm gonna go to bed I have work in the mourning I'll see you jean thank you"

"Yeah, see you".

It was the next morning I got up and ready for work.

Walking out of my apartment I see Eren heading out. "Hey, Eren can I talk to you?"

He completely walked past me as if I wasn't there. "Eren?" are you seriously the mad one right now?"

"I'm not mad", he walked into the elevator I held it open with my hand for he wouldn't leave just yet. 

"So why are you acting as if I don't exist?" He shrugged his shoulder as if he had nothing to say.
