Chapter 34 | Camping

It was in the afternoon at my shift, Erwin said he's stopping by later, midnights was empty and Sasha had a day off. I didn't feel like going out for my break so I just stood in midnights. I got an iced coffee and a random pastry and sat down at one of the tables.

Scrolling on my phone I hear the midnights door open. walking in was Eren, I put down my phone as he approached me and sat down across from me at the table I was sitting at. He didn't say a word he was just staring at me

"Can I help you?" I ask.

"Yeah, did Erwin come by yet"

No? Why. I ask

Eren dug in his pocket and pulled out a card "it's Mikasa card" he said sliding it on the table "Oh, I'll give it to him when he comes by"

Eren nodded his headache and continued to sit there looking at me. "Can I ask you a personal question?" he said.

"Go for it", I said

Why didn't you wanna sign it, I know you did sign it. but why didn't you want to? 

I sighed, "because my whole life Erwin took care of me, I never needed to do something for myself and I thank him for that but I left because of that. I can't depend on him my whole life, and just the thought of him still taking care of me after his death doesn't sit right with me".

Yeah but, he's leaving you with something. I know if my parents left me with something I would be less of a screw-up. he said. 

He's not just leaving me with "something" he's leaving me with everything he owns.

"I know I asked you this before but what do you plan on doing after midnight".

I don't know eren. how could you even ask me that when you have nothing going on for you. like what are your plans?

"Oh, I don't know, committing genocide, taking out half the world's population".

There was a silence between me and eren. "I'm joking," he said "I don't have one".

Well then can't blame me for not having one either. I said. 

Do you wanna do something later? he asked.

"I can't I have to close midnights". 

Fine, I'll just stay here then. he said.

"What? Why".

"Because I have nothing else to do, or no one to hang out with".

so I'm your last option, I said.

"I didn't say that". he said. 

"You kinda did". Before eren could have said something Levi walked in with the look of being annoyed. Erwin walked in behind him "welp y/n I canceled my flight back. we're going camping"

Camping? I said. 

"Yeah like old times. me you, Levi, and jean".

"Jean!?" Me and eren said at the same time.

"Yeah, it was his idea, we'll leave tomorrow morning". Erwin said. 

What about work? I asked. 

"Don't worry about that Levi has that fixed". Looking at Levi I could tell he didn't wanna go camping but he was only doing it for Erwin meaning I have to go along with it. I sighed "You know what, camping sounds good".

"What do you say Eren, are you in?" Erwin asked.

"Nah camping aint really my thing". 

"Well, it is now" Erwin said patting Eren on the shoulder. Eren looked at me as if I could get him out of it. I shrugged my shoulders as a response.
