I wake up with Ariadne in my arms. Maya took the last watch. Ariadne spent the night nestled in my arms with her head on my chest, glorious hair spilling down my arm and tickling my bare hips past my unbuttoned shirt. Her big soft eyes are closed and I can see her long black lashes brushing her tear stained face. I want to wake her up kissing the tears away. But I don't. I don't. She'd kiss me back. And I wouldn't know if she meant it.
"You don't know that's why," Maya is guessing my thoughts.
"Everyone around me gets drunk and tipsy and can't control themselves, pretty good indication," I sigh. The only reason I trust that sleeping with Maya or anyone else is okay is if I'm not actually really romantically attracted to them, just sexually, and also if they haven't had anything to drink AND I've been getting my high off of other people and/or haven't been physically around them at all prior to sleeping together. Yeah it's extensive.
"I think the ambrosia helps," Maya says, she's been sipping it. "I don't feel half as out of it."
"Yes, I'm sure that will go over well. Here drink this substance we know nothing about so that we know I'm not drugging you."
"Hey, we'll figure it out. I think she likes you, really likes you," Maya says.
"Woman's intuition?" I ask.
"Yeah I guess," she laughs, "Here. I found food in her bathroom."
"She hides food in her bathroom," I say, emotionally.
"You are ridiculous."
"Don't you think I know that?"
Ariadne stirs a little.
"It's just ten," I say, shifting her a little so I can hold her more comfortably now that she's up, "Barely morning."
"Ten? Oh shit," she sits up, "I wonder where Teddy is."
"I don't know. Let's go back to the control tower," I say, casually, "Check up on him."
"My dad should be getting ready to go get him soon," Ariadne says, sitting up an stretching a little.
"Do we think DismembermentDad is still around?" Maya asks.
"Shit—I mean I assume Viktor's with him by now? What else would he be doing?"
