*Souls POV*

Tashida's sudden exit leaves the crowd of students in gasps, murmurs and nudges, but the two people who are meant to be the most shocked are y/n and Stein.

Though they are unfazed.

Y/n slides one foot back, twists her hips to the side and holds a hand out in front of her, her face masked with determination.

"She's in a battle stance," Maka states in awe, and she's right. Standing with her feet in that position, it would be easy for y/n to run at her opponent, and with her hand held out like that the momentum of the run would make an attack using the other hand easy.

"She knows her stuff," I chuckle.

"What is she doing?" Kid asks, suddenly standing next to us.

"She's ready to fight," I smirk, and Kid grins at her.

She's so cool.

*Your POV*

Tashida walks away, and the sudden adrenaline that comes with the realisation of an upcoming fight hits me; I am more than ready.

I get into a battle stance, and hear murmurs coming from familiar voices. Out of the corner of my eye I see Soul and Kid grinning proudly. I suddenly feel self-conscious in front of them, though I'm not sure why. I feel like, with those blood red and golden pairs of eyes staring at me expectantly, disappointment is not an option.

Right, I have to win.

Stein takes a cautious step to the right, and all the muscles and nerves in my body are instantly on high alert. I take a step to the right, Stein takes another step to the right.

Eventually, Stein swings his scythe back and charges towards me. I calmly wait for him to come within range before pushing down into the ground and springing into the air delicately; keeping my body as still as possible while moving over the Professor for more focus on my landing.

The ground behind Stein rushes up to meet me and I quickly twist to the right, landing with my legs bent, skidding backwards till I put my hand on the ground to stop so I land facing Stein.

I quickly look up just as he charges for me again. I push off the ground and dart to the right. Death Scythe slashes the ground where I was standing moments before while Stein eyes me with a challenging look.

Again, he charges for me, and this time I point my feet in a manner that suggests I'm about to jump in the air. Stein brings his scythe to the side, ready to swing it in the air, when I shoot under his legs, flustering him.

I spin around and a flash of light emits from my arm. Quickly, I shoot my arm towards Steins legs, and a dark whip emits from my forearm. It wraps around one of steins ankles and I jerk it to the side.

Stein goes flying, soaring through the air till he crashes into a pillar, causing him to drop Death Scythe and crumble to the ground.

But he isn't done.

Twitching in pain, he shakily lifts his head to meet my gaze. His teeth are clenched- either in anger or pain, probably both- and he sticks his arm out to grab his scythe.

He stumbles back onto his feet, swaying before catching his balance. He shoves his glasses up the bridge of his nose and swings Death Scythe to the side.

My right arm is still a whip, though when Stein charges at me I jump into the air and my whip arm flashes light again.

My arm grows back but in place where my hand should be there is a black crossbow. I aim for Steins back and let go a blast of compressed soul energy in the shape of an arrow at him, being careful not to hit anywhere vital.

I don't want this battle to end so soon.

The arrow strikes him in the side, and he stumbles again, clutching his bleeding waist. He gets back into a battle stance, but doesn't charge at me.

I know what he's doing now. It's at this point in the battle that my confident opponents try using my tactic; wait for the enemy to charge. Though, at this point in the fight, that tactic is useless, for in his weak state a carefully manoeuvred attack is- for him- difficult to fend off and -for me- easy to fulfill.

I shoot forward, pushing the muscles in my legs to the fullest, and form two swords out of my arms. Stein prepares himself for my attack.

When I reach the right distance I leap into the air. Stein pulls Death Scythe down to his side, ready to swing him up in a horizontal cut, but as soon I see the muscles in his arm tense in preparation to swing, I flick my legs over my head and somersault backwards, shooting my blades out and slicing through the sleeves of steins labcoat. I land on my feet gracefully, and see Steins sleeves torn, but I drew no blood.

Perfect.

If I don't draw blood, it will seem like I'm making mistakes, which will give Stein the confidence to attack with more authority and bravery.

He sprints forward, pulling Death Scythe over his head to swing down at me. I put on a scared face, like I didn't anticipate this attack, and wait for the scythe to be near my head.

I leap backwards just as Stein begins to bring death scythe down and jump up. My feet land on the top of Death Scythe's handle and I quickly change my arms into the end of maces to add a lot of extra weight to my light body.

Death Scythe's blade falls to the ground faster than before with me on top, and I bring my heavy arms slowly further behind me to add a certain direction to Death Scythes fall. If Stein were not distracted by pain right now he would predict my next move and let go of Death Scythe's handle, but he doesn't.

With the weight of my arms outweighing Steins side of Death Scyhte I create a see-saw effect, making me land on the ground and Stein shoot into the air. I return my hands to their original form. The professor falls in my direction and I bring my fist up.

It connects with the crook of his ribs and I push my arm over my head, ultimately pushing Stein over my head. I spin my whole body in an 180 degree angle to the right and shoot my right leg up. It collides with Stein and keeps him in the air long enough for me to switch my right leg for my left leg and kick Stein again; not into the air this time, but straight ahead of me.

As Steins body skids against the courtyard tiles I switch my arm for a sword and proudly walk over to him. He's lying on his back with his arms at his sides, Death Scythe lying metres away.

I step one leg over his chest and drop down till the tip of my sword is millimetres from his throat.

"Tap out," I demand confidently. Stein looks up at me exhaustedly.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.
