{Souls POV}
After Kid's outburst a few hours earlier, everybody was even more on edge than before. Blackstar had been sitting quietly by himself while Tsubaki tried to cheer him up, and Liz and Patti were out looking for the young reaper.
"I'm scared."
My head spun around to face Maka, shocked that she was sitting beside me. She'd been so quiet ever since Kid ran out, I had completely forgotten she was there.
I twisted my lips sympathetically and wrapped my arm around her shoulder. "I am too, Maka. We all are. This things big, bigger than Asura."
"He's right, Maka," said Lord Death, who had returned to his position of gazing wistfully out of a window. "And I fear that this new unknown threat may not be the only one at hand."
"What do you mean? What is it?" asked Maka, clearly as confused as I was.
"It's y/n."
We turn to the voice and see Tashi slumped against the doorway casually.
"What do you mean it's y/n?" I growl, unintentionally coming off as angry. It's not Tashi's fault, the opposite actually.. I can't help wonder, if we had left him to fight y/n on his own.... Maybe none of this would have....
No.
It didn't matter when, it didn't matter how, but eventually Phiona would've gotten her hands on y/n. She was too strong, too cunning, and most of all, too relentless. She would not have stopped until y/n was in her grasp.
"Why do you think Phiona wanted her so badly? She's powerful, Soul. Far more than you know. She isn't just an exceptional fighter with the ability to transform any part of her body into any weapon she has wielded before, there's far more to her than meets the eye. She was a person before she arrived at this academy, you lot simply never asked about it."
Yes I had, hadnt I?
"Even if you did, she wouldn't of told you," he chuckled. He walked to one of the dining chairs and practically fell onto it he was so exhausted. "But it would best if you knew the truth. Right, Lord Death?"
All eyes turned to the reaper, who's expression was stone cold. When he spoke, his voice was neither cheery nor childish. "Yes, Tashida. That would be best."
Tashi nodded. "I may as well get straight to the point, ay? Y/n is, in the same sense as Lord Death and his son..."

"Lord Death, would you step over here for a moment?" Professor Stein called out, and Death obliged.
"What is it, Stein?" he asked, leaning over the professors shoulder.
"Y/n's soul. It hasn't moved once since we've discovered it." His voice was serious, and faintly laced with worry. My heart rate sped up and Maka quickly grabbed my hand, squeezing it tightly.
Lord Death frowned. "Hmm, and you're certain it's hers..?"
Stein nodded. "Positive. I've spent the past hour studying the wavelength patterns, and after what Tashida told us... There's no doubt in my mind. It's hers."
"She couldn't be..." Maka's voice was shaking with worry, as was her body. ".. Dead, right? I mean, she isn't, is she? Phiona wouldn't just kill her, never mind leave the soul behind..."
Stein quickly put Maka's mind at ease- or, as close to ease as it could, given the present situation. "No, I don't believe so. Phiona needs her alive, but I can imagine y/n isn't going to aid her in her tasks without a fight, if at all, so I doubt she's in a pleasant state."
I squeezed Maka's hand harder, my teeth beginning to bare. "You're not implying that y/n's being tortured, are you?" In response, Stein merely sighed, but it was enough. "We have to go," I announced, shooting up from my seat. "Now. We can't wait any longer. For all we know, y/n's been forced to help Phiona fulfil her task already and Phiona is merely toying with her before murdering her, and if thats the case then we have no time to lose. We gotta go immediately."
Stein nodded. "He's right. I have a general idea of her location, and I've come up with two possible areas. One, the blue moon waterfalls, which I highly doubt a fire witch would settle for."
"And the other one?" Maka inquired.
"There's this old ancient temple, deep in the mountains, surrounded by thick jungles and swamps that have been the named location for multiple urban legends and horror stories, so I am going to go right ahead and say that travelling to the temple is extremely dangerous. However, my study's show that there is an underground passage that the ancient civilisation who guarded over the temple used to travel to and fro, all the while avoiding the dangerous swamplands. If we can just find the entrance then maybe we can make our way to the temple without any dangers. My calculations show a 97% chance that this temple is in fact where y/n's soul is shown, thus where Phiona is keeping her captive. We must make our way there as soon as possible." The Professor stood up and slammed his laptop closed before proceeding toward the front door. "Maka, Soul, go find Kid and the Thompson sisters and bring them to the Academy. I will return to the academy to gather supplies for our journey. Blackstar, get over yourself."
I could practically hear the imaginary anvil landing on Blackstar's head.
"Right!" Cheered Lord Death.
"Oh, and Lord Death?" Stein stopped in his tracks and turned to face the reaper. "I know you're my boss and everything, but if you could just remain at the academy for this expedition, I'd rather it if Phiona didn't seize any opportunity to not only have y/n's... Powers, per say, but your mirror as well."
The Grim Reaper stood silent for a moment, his eyes locked on Steins emotionless face.
"Right!"
Stein smirked. "Brilliant. See kids? It's all coming together already."
{Timeskip}
"Liz! Patty! Kid! Liz! Patty! Kid! Liz! Patty! Kid!"
"Hey, knock it off, will ya?" I snarled at my Meister, sick of her acting like a broken record. "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, do you want a repeat of the black blood madness?"
Maka humphed and crossed her arms, pouting as we continued our search for the missing trio.
After a few more minutes of no results, I rolled my eyes and let out an annoyed breath. "Liz!" I shouted at the top of my lungs. I could feel Maka's triumphant grin burning into the back of my skull. "Patty! Kid!"
"Over here!" Patty's head popped out from the side of a building as she waved childishly for our attention. I smirked at Maka, who only glared at me. I shrugged and strolled casually to the younger Thompson sister.
"Stein wants us all at the Academy. He says it's time to go-..."
My breath hitched in my throat at the sight before me. Kid and Liz are both hunched over the floor with their back to me, and flowing through the cracks in the cobblestone street beneath the feet, a red velvet liquid stinking of iron was slowly making its way toward me.
"What have you done..."
